I've just recently (well today) tried out at making some speakers pods and they turned out great! However i did have a problem about the extra thickness the the glass adds when using current trim as molds. i ended up have to sand it back a heaps.
Is there a way to avoid this? or is sanding it back the way to go?

i would post pics but someone else has my camera atm..
its the triangle piece on the door behind the outside mirrors. (ie between the a pillar, window and dash when door is closed) if that makes sense.
so what i did was wrap fabric fully around it and glued it to the back of the piece. now i found along the edges from the extra thickness i had to sand it back almost to the plastic to get it to fit.
from the tut's ive read this is the way to do it. i know it is always guna be a lot of sanding to get it smooth anyway but just seeing if theres an easier way to get around this problem..
cheers

if they are the triangle covers for back of mirrors, use womans stockings to do it as its thiner and that will giveyour clearence and shape, then you can add some glass to it for strenge if you think it needs it.
(stockings on there own will be ok for tweeter's or for forming a shape to then add matting to.)
or
Grind/sand using a air powered 90 degree die grinder.
Its much faster.then skim some body filler on the imperfections to smooth out.
