I have a Sony Head Unit CDX-GT860U

The manual is pathetic with such things as:

DSO

To select the DSO mode: '1', '2', '3' or 'off'.  The larger the number, the more enhanced the effect.

Great huh?

If you are a neanderthal like me, DSO stand for ....

Proprietary Dynamic Soundstage Organizer (DSO) circuitry induces subtle phase shift in the preamp output, different in each output channel, to simulate a sound source that is higher in origin. Further, the frequency response in a section of the sound is altered to further enhance the perception that the sound is originating from a point higher up than it actually is. These two factors combine to seemingly raise the sound stage, and spread it wider across the dash, even if the speakers are mounted low in the doors. The result of DSO is a better front stage even if the speakers are mounted in locations that are low in the vehicle!

I've had this unit for a few months and today I discovered BBE MP!

The manual says nothing about it.  However thanks to the internet..

BBE MP:
Restores depth and reality
Restores harmonics’ phase alignment
Restores stereo image and regains full-stereo performance
Brings details of the music to life
Restores warmth
Expands the upper frequency range by over-sampling

The 2006 Sony CD receivers (excluding CDX-GT100 and CDX-GT200) come loaded with BBE MP technology, a unique audio processing technology that gives you front-row seats to concert-quality sound anytime and anywhere.

Let's face it. Sound reproduced from compressed files sounds okay — a drum still sounds like a drum and a keyboard still sounds like a keyboard — but the soul, and the bone-shaking thump simply aren’t there, making for a "hollow" or "empty" listening experience. BBE MP helps to restore and enhance compressed sound by detecting the reduced harmonics and boosting them up to the levels that would make a world-class DJ proud.

BBE MP lets you hear the details, clarity and sharpness of a complicated drumbeat, or the power and intensity of your favorite singer belting out the chorus of a song.

BBE MP. You’ll hear the difference.

I heard the difference alright - my head unit is now really impressive, a pity I can't say the same about the manual!!!

However there is another problem I am struggling with.  The unit has a variety of spectrum anaysers and a video display cycles through a number of them.  You can select one, but after a few moments it cycles through all the SAs.

My question this - does anyone know how I can make it stay on the one SA?

Thanks for listening
