i chucked some cut springs in the back of my vl for craps and giggles, but it turn's out we cut lowered springs so it came down quite a bit more than we expected. (it was an inch higher in the back before now its an inch lower in the back)

is it too low in the back?

if its going to be that low in the back the front needs to come down IMO
Sir-Psycho-Sexy
Jul 6 2008, 10:02 PM
i don't really want to lower the front because i want to put a walky front bar on it (without the bottom lip)
would putting the walky bar on it mean the front will be lower or the same height?

Looks pretty low but you could always go lower

Jul 6 2008, 10:44 PM
you can't fit anything between the back tyre and guard, but surprisingly i never rubs
my mates 5lt VL used to tuck 15in calais practically.... 2 coil high cut rear springs... BUMPSTOPS BABY!!! Was a pig to drive. But looked horn!! Lower the front some to. Nick a coil off... should put it right then.

The rear sits nice, drop the front slightly

Jul 7 2008, 02:27 AM
do you reckon i'll need to roll the front gaurds then?
also, will the car stick out like dog balls if i do? or do the massive sidewalls keep it looking relatively stock?

Seems to me the reason why the guard is eclipsing the tyre and not the surface is because the profile on them is high. Get some lower profile tyres to cure the tractor factor!

Walky frond bars are expencive (even knock offs) and a prick to fit. the grp a looks better

the price sky rockets if you want to any lower profile on the wheels, plus i think it would look awkward with such tiny wheel/tyre combo
And to komodo, i don't think you can beat the combo of calais headlights with a walky fornt bar except without the bottom lip.

i love it

Yeah, why cut springs and sit on bump stops? Ah, you did say craps and giggles. I'm one for function first, so I say "yes, too low". Love the VL shape and Calais lights, but see how your guts and arse feel after a while.

All this talk of going low - all I want is 4" of lift!
Oh and 37's but I'll settle on 35's

I want a lift kit too! a 4x4 on bump stops is wrong. Do I get a prize for tucking 31" mud tyres?
~Sparkles~
Jul 15 2008, 09:20 PM
LOL Im impressed if that counts Charger!
31" tyres tucked is impressive - I can do it, but only when im crossed up on full articulation

(Also looks kinda impressive - but for way different reasons)

and his diff pumpkin is still only about 300mm off the ground
Tell him 35" tyres - nothing less! especially with 5" lift! hell I only need 3" to get 35's under the 'trol and with 4" and drop arms I can get 37"! thats monstor truck shi
t! (ok not really - but its bloody impressive and it gets your diff up miles - no getting hung up on diff housings when you've got that much light under there!)
I actually find that I dont really need a spring lift at all cause I never have any real issues with approach and depature angles or ramp over its more than I get hung up on the diff housings cause someone with bigger rubber has been through before me. And its embarrassing to get snatched by a disco or a lux (man lux's have heaps of clearance under their diffs - they have seriously small diffs - no wonder they bust em all the time!)
Oh and if getting bigger tyres get sunnies with a negative offset - makes everything look TOUGH! plus the wider stance increases stability - cause you know you need that when you'll be lugging your half tonne of sub box around
