As a result of discussion amongst the MEASQ judges, we've decided to change the class line up for 2008 and onwards, effective immediately.
New Class Structure:
Intermediate
Expert
Show
What this means is you can compete in either Intermediate or Expert, and elect whether you want to be judged additionally for Show.
Basically we've combined all the show side of judging, into one class based soley on Show. You must compete in either Intermediate or Expert to be elegible to compete in the show class if you want your installation / display judged.
We will be putting this into effect as of the coming Round 3 event.

Some states have, and it's been unofficial.
We've decided to adopt it Australia wide, and is a positive step forward we feel.

sorry to ask a stupid question, but does this mean that amateur show competitors will be entering in intermediate SQ, then competing for the "Show" trophy against pro competitors?
not saying its a bad idea, just clarifying...

Show is a combination of any competitor who wishes to compete for show/display, so in other words, yes.

i think its a great idea... pool all the show cars together instead of 1 or 2 in each "level" of show...
and also evens out the playing field, as well as making it easier for show judges..
ALTHO.. how will an "intermediate" show competitor be judged against "expert" with different levels of finish?
because i know previously, they were supposedly judged on 2 different standards...

I'm all for making the judging easier, however I don't think this new rule is likely to "even out the playing field", any more than creating a single "SQ" class of competing amateurs and professionals would.
i can see the reasons for the rule, however I'm still not sure how this will encourage people with an amateur show install, built and finished at home on a limited budget, to enter and "grow" this aspect of the sport.
I do however see the need to push quality installs as much as possible, as the more competitors in any discipline (spl/SQ/show etc) with nicer rides, the more people we are likely to attract as both competitors and spectators.

In a perfect world things would be different.
However, this is what we need to do at this point in time.

This new regulation would be interesting for me. As a competitor in amateur show through the past I would be interested with how I stack up with the "expert" class.
Luckily this coincides with my recent cleaning up of the install and making a few changes... Looks like 1st place would be harder than ever now

Is there any news on how would this affect current points structures?

The WA judges are yet to collaborate an opinion on the new rules yet. We are meeting this weekend. As for series points NoOg, we will work out a system to ensure past efforts have not been lost.

does that mean that all the intermediate entrants are all competing for the sound title also??? like what we do with the expert class???

i reckon it works well. as much as am and pro show classes are combined(meaning am show is agaisnt pro show in install stakes). the audio side is in the exact same class. so generally larger competitor groups in intermediate and expert. i like it.

yeah thats what i would assume
so everyone at the same level competes against each other in sound and everyone in show competes against each other in show
