One word... Weak.

It's nothing like the (for the lack of a better word) "tingle taste" you get from Redbull or V, however its real smooth which might make it better for mixes.

The new flavour is ok, but boring. The old flavour was liquid death though

Bring back the old flavour it was awesome. the new flavour tastes crap and then leaves you with a dr. pepper style after taste which just makes me wish i really was drinking dr.pepper.

And WTF is with the monster sized cans - leave cans that size for sh!t bourbon like woodstock

Rockstar Energy drink is where its at.. that or the trucker sized Red Bulls!

I like it. My flatmate got a slab for 28 bucks. Smashed most them down over a weekend.

IMO, i dont drink any of those drinks like RedBull, V, or Mother.

MONSTER is great, although have not seen it out here only when i was in the USA did i see it, was massive cans too.

did see a can called monster last year sometime out here but it was different to the USA one.


My wife got me a 2 cases of one called Battery made by fosters i think it was and it was good.

there is this Thai lady at my work that gets me Thai redbull its in a small yellow can and its better then the normal red bull, not sure where she gets it from though.

Power Root is a good one too. my mate went to bali(IIRC) a couple years back and bought some back with him. comes in very small cans and is almost the consistency of sugar syrup. tastes really sweet, isn't too bad actually. the name is better though.

New mother is a big improvment on the old one, however, to me it seems to taste very similar to the Coles Zu (green can), infact, I would put Zu slightly higher than mother.

Redbull is still the king, however, the new Lemon V is very very nice.

And for the budget, Coles Zu in the purple can is fantastic for <$2 a can.

have you had the Berry V? i would rate that as the best of all. i agree, the new lemon is very nice also!

To post something more productive, ill say that i prefer V over everything else.

I hate RedBull, and ill only drink it when mixed with Jager. By itself, its horrible IMO.

I don't mind most energy drinks actually, but prefer "V" as a stand-alone drink, I also tend like originals. (I don't really fancy drinking that V black can etc.) To me, Redbull is too sweet, which makes it great for mixing.

"Red Eye" (classic/original) doesn't taste too bad either, quite good actually (and cheap).

Battery energy drink is ok. jnr got a cpl of crates from work. tastes like red bull IMO.

Just had the new Mother this morning and i don't mind it actually! never had the original because everyone said it was awful, so i can't compare. the after taste of the new one is reminiscent of bubblegum flavoured ice cream. whether that is good or not i guess you will have to decide for yourself. but i like it

Rockstar is the go, followed closely by black V - it only falls behind rockstar because rockstar is bang for buck.

I'm wishing we had this over here though:

All the energy drinks we get over here are toned down versions, due to the australian laws about amounts of various additives etc. If you want full potent stuff go to thailand, china, asian countries etc. Or find places you can order online ad get it shipped over. Small personal consignment aren't checked for these things.

I dont mind the new one, Alot better than the old one. I love "Rhino" though, it tastes the same as red bull but is less than half the price.

5 shots of vodka to 1 can of V. you can't even taste the Vodka and its a great little pre drink before you head out to the clubs.

One night we came across a few slabs of V and Red Bull and it happened to be poker night so once our Coke ran out, V and Red Bull were mixed with Jim Beam... V + Jim Beam = Nasty... Red Bull + Jim Beam = Red Bull... Couldn't work it out, so we mixed it 50/50 with Red Bull for the rest of the night

Tried it sober a few months back and it doesn't taste good at all

Of all the V's I would go for black (so smooth) but I like the others too. The old Mother tasted like arse IMO, haven't tried the new one yet. RedBull I don't like much, and I reckon Rockstar tastes like a combo of V and RedBull

I tried the new Mother, it tastes very OK.

And Redbull is going to be the next "tastes like chicken" with the energy drinks I think

When that stuff ; mother first came out, it was only purchased because it was cheap and the whole marketing and name of the stuff was found to be funny, "Mother".

Any way from memory it is simply another rehashed Asian drink, the original came from Thailand. all in all not bad for 68% apple juice and 5% lemon; we were all being coned into becoming fruit juice drinkers!! Now it simply reintroduced as a shadow / similarity in flavour to red bull; can't beat them join them campaign.

Any way my preference is always with the original / origins of red bull; Kratingdaeng 250 (marketed and toned down to what is known to the western world as red bull).

At the end of the day it's all to do with marketing, market share rather than a proper and quality product.

Go to any Asian grosser and one will find a host of differing beverages of which include energy drinks; some are seriously laden with caffeine (making even the original red bull look soft) and all the other keep you awake for a month ingredients.

for a laugh; Woolworth's / safeway sells a Dutch produced (The Netherlands) energy drink called superman energy drink "SUPERMAN energy drinks, is a delicious energy drink, not only SUPERMAN is the most recognised symbol in world, in terms of brand recognition; but also SUPERMAN energy drinks tastes good as well"

Had some new mother on Friday night. Wasn't awful but certainly nothing special at all. Don't think I'll go out of my way to buy it again.

Red Bull is still the best. Everythinh else just wants to be like it. I had 26 in 3 hours on night it put me on a bit of a high.

Red Bull tastes like arse, most of the other energy drinks taste nothing like it.

On the back of the mother can - Warning high caffiene content... ok we know that's why your drinking it but our lame legal guys made us warn you not to feed it to kids, up the duff women or the weak who just can't tollerate it.
