gday.. i own a vn calais and lookin at installing a killswitch to the fuel pump for some extra security, coz at the moment dont think my car is very secure. calais come out standard with immobiliser/alarm/ remote central locking, but my remote wont work... so i assume that the immobiliser and alarm arent activated. herefore locking it with the key only deadlocks it... by the way, how easy is it for theives to get past the "deadlock"?? coz i kno commodores are verry appealing to theives..

break a window and climb thru.
dead locked u cant pop the locks from a window unless u like screw driver them...
id consult an auto electrician about getting the factory immobiliser done
or find the wire that runs to ur fuel pump and put a relay/switch inline.

Better still, fit a fuel solenoid to the fuel line. Even if a thief hard wires directly to the fuel pump they won't be going anywhere.

A solenoid has the same principals as a relay, an electro-magnetic coil that opens and closes when current flows runs through it.
One way of doing it is to wire the solenoid to the fuel pump circuit AND another circuit, really depends on the car which circuit you decide to pair it with, i'm not too familiar with the VN's.
okaay.. sounds liek a gd idea... also wat wiring can i use to do this,,jst nethin or? also the line wont hav to be fused or nehin like that ayy.. coz its just extending the line

from mem, you canaccess the fuel pump wire along the sill panel on the drivers side. i think it s a violet wire, but probe to confirm. run a seperate relay with hiden switch or remote switch.
but alas, it wont stop anyone breakin in and racking all your gear when the car is parked!

Open your passenger door and check the position of the immobiliser override switch (between the door hinges, just to the left of the bottom of your glove box), you stick your door/ignition key in there to switch it. If the key won't go in, chances are it has collapsed and has open circuited (turned off) the immobiliser power circuit. This is a real common one on VN/VP commodores. Mine has collapsed internally, but luckily mine collapsed in the on position. This may or may not be your problem, but there's also a good chance you could stick your key in there, and find you can turn the whole thing back on. A friend of mine got sick of 'Pressing Remote' and turned his off for example.

the battery terminals are broken in my remote, thats why a battery wont jst fix the problem!
I cant find an ovveride switch in between the door hinges , but there is one in the glove box, and im pretty shor that all gd because if it was switched off, the car wouldnt even start... (iv had this happen to me b4)

Take it into a holden dealership and get a new one custom made to talk to your system? I've never tried this, but it can't hurt to ask, I noticed they're all numbered differently, this might be why.
