The latest offerings from Danish loudspeaker manufacturer Dynaudio are the Esotar2 range of high end car audio component speakers.

Tweeter Esotar² 110
Dynaudio has established a reputation of producing some of the best high frequency drivers available with its Esotar Home Systems models, incorporating its most refined technology into new reference automotive tweeter – and bestowing such with the Esotar designation.

The new Esotar automotive tweeter features a specially coated 28 mm (1.1") diameter fabric dome, a powerful neodymium magnet and an exceptional CNC-machined metal housing with a damping back chamber.

· Coated textile dome eliminates any high frequency break-ups
· Very strong neodymium magnet system with vented pole piece
· Open, spacious and detailed high frequency reproduction
· Excellent dynamic and transient performance
· Integrated damped cavity chamber in the pole piece
· Variovent integrated in back plate
· Ferrofluid adds damping and increases power handling
· Aluminium voice coil wire results in a low moving mass
· Shallow mounting depth

Woofer Esotar² 650
The 17 cm (6.5") diameter Esotar midrange/bass driver relies on the rigid, die-cast solid aluminum frame and Dynaudio's characteristic MSP (Magnesium Silicate Polymer) diaphragm.

The voice coil diameter is exceptionally large at 75 mm, but by using extremely light aluminum wire wound on a Kapton former, the coil remains extremely lightweight. In conjunction with the powerful neodymium magnet, this low-mass driver construction provides excellent transient response, speed and precision.

· Diaphragm and dust cap moulded as one piece
· Large 75 mm voice coil ensures high power handling
· Internal double magnet system with vented pole piece
· Internal double magnetsystem with neodymium magnet and vented pole piece
· Aluminium voice coil wire provides for a low moving mass, wound on kapton former in a car
· Rigid die-cast chassis with aerodynamically shaped ribs
· Materials and parameters are optimized for the harsh environmental conditions in a car
· Smooth high-frequency roll-off
· Natural midrange reproduction

Subwoofer Esotar² 1200
The Esotar Subwoofer also features a unique construction:
A massive magnet powers a 75 mm diameter aluminum voice coil and MSP cone diaphragm.

MSP provides the ideal combination of stiffness, light weight and excellent inner damping to naturally reproduce the lowest frequencies without distortion.

Thanks to the innovative Dynaudio construction with precise parameters and extremely tight tolerances, this 30 cm (12") diameter driver reproduces the highest sound pressure levels down to the lowest notes by precisely following the amplifier's signal, even at the highest output levels.

· Large 75 mm voice coil ensures high power handling
· Diaphragm with very high excursion, 58mm peak-to-peak
· High power handling, 400W long term IEC
· Rigid die-cast chassis with aerodynamically shaped ribs
· Materials and parameters are optimized for the harsh environmental conditions in a car
RRP A$1599.00 ea

Surefire
Lovely looking speakers. Are these designed to be run active or are crossovers included?
Gonadman2
I like that sub!

How different are the new Esotar tweeters compared to the old ones? I have a set sitting in the cupboard, just wondering how much of a step up these would be?
fury
The new ones are a LOT easier to mount tongue.gif
Pulse-R
is there a midrange for the esotar2? (such as the MD140? or a 4" or something)
shiny_car
would be good to have some feedback from MAS, so hopefully he has time and info. smile.gif

there is currently no 'set' of Esotar2 splits, and therefore no passive xover. this could of course change, but currently, they are designed to run 'actively', or used with alternative passives.

i've struggled to find any real answer to this, whether in specifications or peoples' opinions who have used or heard them.

i have the Esotar2 E650 midbass drivers installed in my car, but yet to connect them up! rolleyes.gif pretty pathetic, i know (!), but hopefully they'll be up and running soon, so can give my opinions.

they certainly appear the goods, but they are physically not significantly different to the regular MW160(/2) drivers. virtually the same frame/cast basket, same looking cone and surround, and very, very similar dimensions. of course, the spider, cone weight, and internals (voicecoil, the wire, magnets, and magnet gap) are probably different.
