It has been a long time between drinks for MEASQ Vic so was great to get into it again.

A big thank you to the boys of Phatt Audio for hosting this round …. And a big thank you to all the people involved in making this round possible, organiser, judges, helpers etc

The weather was kind to us with a nice & sunny morning contrary to the rain predicted.

A great turnout with lots of new faces, some old faces with new changes and also some with new cars.

hey all, was a fantastic day with great weather and a HEAP of new people - i was shocked to see so many names listed in Novice Class. Will be great is these new people continue to come along to SQ and social meets - breathe some new life into MEAVIC

was great to catch up with everyone, and just sit back as a spectator listening to some new cars.

Adhika your car sounds really, really good with those Crescendos in there, and i think once some of the little nuances are ironed out in those prototype tweets you'll be extremely competitive (not that u weren't today, 2nd place is damn good in my books).

i'll hopefully have something resembling a system before the next comp so will look forward to possibly competing against timmeh, brian and everyone else in Intermediate

WOW!! what a day..

the weather man was kind enough to hold out the rain till last night, and gave us blue sky/sunshine for half of the day..

was good to see MEASW Vic back on the board again and a successfull event..

Big thanks to Phatt for hosting the event once again.. awesome venue with lots of parking around, great bbq snags, and an awesome atmosphere... was also good to see the new Alpine car on show... was S3X!!!! (and outdone the 300c imo!)

Thanks also goes out to the new committee who stepped up to run the show in marc's absence.. and the show did go on!
pat yourselves on the back guys, was a very well run day.. *pats self on back*

Thanks must also go out to the competitors... Because if it wasnt for you, there would be no comp.. I think i counted 20 cars with novice being the most entered.. was good to see so many newbies going in for fun, and some taking out placings..

Congrats to all winners.. it was well deserved and well fought for.. with many ties occuring in both novice & Intermediate classes..
Novice had tie 1st place but the winner was determined by countback in the sq section..
Intermediate also had ties... in 2nd & 3rd places (2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th finals)..

The new whiteboard setup we had worked well.. and enabled judges & competitors alike to see who was next, who'd been judged and how far off finished we were... This still needs minor refinement but went really well..

i got many pics as usual, totallying around the 250 as usual.. some were not directly related to the comp, but they'll be hosted nonetheless.. smile.gif

all i can say now is bring on round 4.. biggrin.gif
nidekcus
Hey guys!

It was an awesome day! My first ever SQ event. Thanks to everyone for their comments and suggestions on my car/setup. Hopefully for the next round I can take on board those suggestions and do a bit more fine tuning and hopefully get amongst the places smile.gif

The Encouragment Award is very much appreciated...and it's going straight to the pool room!

smile.gif
Timm3h
I had a great day as well! Even though I got stung by a bee tongue.gif Was great to see so many people competing, and especially so many new faces! Congrats to Brian for getting your first 1st place in intermediate... I've only gotta make up 4 points though laugh.gif

Hi guys, was good to catch up with some old and new faces.

Bit disappointed that this is the first comp where I wasn't allowed to compete. I think iceman probably feels the same way. I didn't see any harm in it seeing judging was only 2 cars down and we'd been there for a while walking around but not my call.

Considering the event thread only said registration from 11 and judging from 12, perhaps for next round you should also specify that if competitors arrive late without informing anyone they will be not be allowed to compete. Save anyone having their day spoilt and may make for better planning on your behalf?

Not all competitors frequent the forums, but doesn't mean we don't want to join in still, for me I read the first post and throw it on my calendar.

Cheers

Tim

when we gonna c pics damo???
Marc
This was a committee decision. It's not fair on everyone else who gets there on time.
Any one with a legitimate reason (working, prior function) who has contacted admin prior to the event, would be considered.
Otherwise, no go.

You don't go into a movie at 11:00am when it started at 10:00am do you?

Sounds like it was a fantastic day and that's great to see. The fact that the whole committee and judges are now armed with the resources to run events and it now doesn't rely on any single person is a huge plus and another step forward to better organisation.

Well done guys!
s_tim_ulate
I agree with the decision, just the communication/consistency as it hasn't been an issue in the past and I'm having competition withdrawals. tongue.gif

That aside the day went smoothly good to have a chat with some of the novice SQ guys as well (nidekcus etc), hopefully see you all at the next event (on time)
nidekcus
Hey guys,

I need to get a kill switch....any ideas where to get one from?

I live in Brunswick West.

Cheers,

Andrew
Timm3h
Andrew, go to Hektik on Sydney road - between albion and moreland road, on the west side of sydney road smile.gif Or just used an ANL fuse that you can screw the end off smile.gif Dont buy the crappy one from Jaycar - I had one, and it seized OPEN.
OZBLISS
Hey guys,

Thank you for your feed back Adam, I will try to tweak my system more to get better sound. Also Thanks for the judges for the feedback, I will certainly work on those things.

hey, thanks to all that came out and made the day what it was, the atmosphere and attitudes were great, bbq a bonus, and that alpine 4x4 something to dream about...
congrats to all that took out 1 2 3 placing and to nidekus for getting the encouragement award.. i had a ball....cheers.

i was hoping to get in the placings, so i was shocked with getting first, and now i know the drill ill be stepping up to intermediate class, and seeing how i go there, it was just good to hear what the judges are looking for and get some feedback....

cheers, BRAD!! (JUKEBOX)

so, whens round 4 tongue.gif

btw, nideckus, i got my switch from autobahn, its rated 500 amps, lol. not that i need that but for a $3 dollars increase from the 150 amp, i got it...
~Sparkles~
Andrew try this:

Bep marine battery switch available from aquavolts under $40 plus P&H which is where i bought mine from

And yes the "key" is removable from the switch.

There is also a cheaper type - similar to whats seen at the back of Grp N race cars that is available from Jaycar and most automotive stores.
Personally I think the BEP marine ones look the best and perform just as well.
~Sparkles~
Sounds like it was a good day - Kel and I dropped in for all of about 3 minutes. Looked like a good turn out
Damo95
ok..

finally filtered and hosted the pics i took at the comp...

I used exactly the same Cresecendo as Adhika and I extremely love that speakers.
Got second place in Intermediate was beyond my expectation. Hope will do better in next round.
Thanks for the judges as well.
See you guys in next round

Cheers

Frederick

They are a nice sounding tweeter.

jukebox
nice pics damo good.gif , i must be a vampire tho' cos my pic blurred, tongue.gif ..

nideckus, check out those switches in person, there quite large, thats what detered me from getting one, the one i got you can flush mount it and have just the key showing, your engine bays alot bigger then mine so it might not look out of place but also check on the link about the flush mount panel for those switches, an extra $33 if you want it mounted like mine mate..

when do we get the email with the score sheet???

Brad, they arent all that big.....
Mine is quite small, just gotta make sure you buy the miniture version of it as in this link: http://www.baxters.com.au/index.php?page=details&id=8711
It's no bigger then your "key" switch and is still flush mountable. My one even has 1 in, 2 out configuration.

gilly, u are fine to compete, the next comp could be mid-late sept i think, though nothing has been decided as far as i know.
u dont have to do anything except turn up in time for registration on the day, pay ur entry and fill in the entry form.
u can jump straight into intermediate, or go in novice if ur not certain (usually helps with first comp, unless u've been to a few as a spectator and paid attention to how the cars are judged and also had a good listen to a few competing cars, novice is a great way to get into it all)
u should do fairly well with ur set-up, ie. its all pretty decent gear so depending on how its installed, theres certainly potential there.
hopefully there'll be a test'n'tune or social prior to the comp, so u should come along to that and ask a few of the more experienced members if they would mind listening to ur set-up and offering advice. they may even help u tune if ur really nice.
people like Fury (danny), Sierra (Alan), Blanketman (Jason), Timmeh (Tim) and myself would have no problems listening and offering advice
