I was surprised when I read it. Is it symptomatic of the general publishing media though?

...probably the effects of the internet/ipod culture (ie, quality articles, photography, reviews etc, have moved asside for cheap & fast = ipod, GenY) and the massive economic down turn in the US.

Although the magazine did go a bit overboard on showing the most 'out there' installs, I for one will miss this magazine.
I just hope the wealth of knowledge that the testers have accumulated over the years will be used by another source, as they sure as heck knew how to review stuff.

Back in the US, in the late 80s - early 90s, when I was getting into car audio, I used to buy
CA&E and Car Stereo Review every month. These were the two main competing publications.
I always found CA&E to be less substantive than CSR.
CA&E was more flashy and had better photo spreads and cooler cars but CSR was far more informative and technical and
would really detail the systems featured. They also had great music reviews.
Many an article by the likes of Richard Clarke also.
I moved here around 97 and lost track. I think CSR disappeared a lot earlier than CA&E has.
The internet has killed many a monthly specialist magazine and will kill many more.

It's a shame. CA&E gave me the bug long before I even had a car in the 80s.
Not surprising really now that I think of it I used to buy magazines every week, but hardly seem to at all lately.....

heya,
sure this is not some kind of hoax?
I have looked for reports on this, even on the CA&E website, and cannot seem to find any. Even the link above is dead.
Maybe I am just blind
