Was the side of the truck branded? That would add to the LOL's.
We had a driver not strap down a load properly about 18 months ago - got about 5 k's up the road and had to hit the anchors pretty hard - about 17 tonne of structural steel went through the cab. Luckly he had a sleeper cab and the stuff on the drivers side got hooked other wise the driver may have been walking around with a bit of steel through the middle of him. I'll see if I can find pics. Oh and to add to the drivers wounds he got his with a massive fine from vicroads too (unsecured load)
Also down in Beaconsfield there is a low bridge - and there is also a Polo field nearby. Everytime there was an equestrian event or polo event undoubtedly someone would underestimate the height of their horse float and take the top off it. I know this lead to at least one horse being killed. Thankfully now the alternative route is bitumened and is more popular than the old underpass. I saw a small tip truck hit it hard one day too - took the tipper body clean off. Moral of the story - know the size of your vehicle!

Yeah, that little bridge is always in the news. Last time I saw an accident I think it was around Xmas time....some old timers hauling a caravan around Australia tried to go under the bridge...OOPS! No more caravan! Totally gone!
If the low clearance sign with the obvious lighting above doesn't warn people adequately you have to wonder about the intelligence level...
