Hey guys
I finally got all my audio gear for my 2001 CE Lancer. well I dont have it but im about to order it all.... so im leaving it open to changes on a few things
Here is what I got.....
Head Unit Kenwood DPX-MP5100U
Front Speakers Rockforg Fosgate T162S
Rear Speakers same as front
Subs 4x Pioneer TSW306C
Amp Speakers Rockforg Fosgate T600-4
Amp Subs Rockforg Fosgate P1000-1
Cap Rockforg Fosgate 2 Farad
4 Gauge Rockforg Fosgate Kit 4ch

Just a few things, the 4AWG im not happy with I would prefer 1/0AWG but try finding the kit,RCAs dist blocks etc for under $300
Now I so that im not going in blind can someone please give me points on installing it into a lancer,

1. Where is agood place to run the wire for the amps
2. How to get to the cd player
3. Are the door panels hard to remove what should I look out for, it is a GLXi model so it has electric windows,
4. Is it a drama to run the wire from the dash to the doors OR should I just use the factory (some installer suggested it)
5. Anything else you can suggest that will be helpful, this is my first lancer and I dont wanna eff it up as its well not my lancer its my GF's and yea WRATH OF GOD aint good....
6. Ohh and how do I take out the rear seats???

Please post pics if you can they make is a little easier.

Is there somewhere good I can go for other stuff like extra cable and ports etc, the autobarn at sandgate rd is crap, and ipswich is too far for me now. somewhere that has a good selection and is on northside of brisbane not too far from Boondall if possible. Ya know in total they wanted just over $5300 for this gear, dumbasses dont think that someone wanting somthing in particular will look up the prices on the net. Im getting the whole lot for just over 3k.

Thx guys

just regarding the wiring, don't limit yourself to kits, i think most people would agree you're far better off getting everything to suit your needs eg getting the quality/length wiring that suits you. Also regarding the 0ga, why don't you try getting welding cable. I got it for $8/m + $115 for fuse/fuse holder and $40 for distro too easy. Also sound deadening?

Sound deadening is prob gonna be part 2, Where the box is being installed there is no possible place for deadening, I will prob jsut do round the outer boot area etc. I can get the 0ga wire, my main problem is getting it to the amps I cant find dist blocks that do 0ga to 4ga cause the amps can only take 4ga wire, I also cant find 0ga breaker in 200 amps. Can someone point me in the right direction?

No one got any info on the dash or removing the rear seat?????????, dash I could maybe workout but rear seat looks hard
mad89
Dash comes out easy as. The fascia thing with the HU, DIN pocket and ash tray just unclips. Gently pry it from the edges and the whole thing will pop out.

If you have a 'fixed' rear seat, that is, one that doesnt fold down, you need to unbolt it. You do this by removing the bottom half first. There will either be tab things that you can pull and remove, or some bolts (12mm from memory) that you undo, which will be infront of the bottom seat. Remove those, then lift the bottom half out. Then you will see more bolts for the backrest.

lol somthing funny, I was waiting in the car park and was like hrmmm i wonder if I pull on this, pop out came the dash for the cd player lol.

I have 60/40 seats, im assuming they are a similar mount. I might ask more questions when i get installing I think. thx dude

why 4 subs? you would have been better off with 2 better ones or get some sound deadening instead.. but whatever you like really. the doors are easy, just a few screws. be careful with the door handle surrounds though. can i also suggest upgrading all your earths in the engine bay and maybe a second mono?

did you shop at autobarn?

60/40 split seats will obviously unbolt where the hinge is. The bottom half will come out the same way as mentioned previously. wink.gif

I already owned 2 of tyhe subs and got the others for a good price, I wanted to do somthing different. some dude on utube as 4 of them and gets 150db in a ute it mashes his windscreen, im not expecting that mind you. I will do some sound deadening definatly. As for the second mono the subs are 400wrms each, the mono is a RF 1kwrms, the birth cert is around 1.2-1.3 kwrms for this amp, if its not big enough then yea def another mono, but that can happen later.

Thanks for all your advise people, 1 week till it all arrives!!!!!, got the HU today though, gonna fit tonight, will make a new post with pics. look out for link
kingswoodproaudio
I got the HU last night, and Installed, It prob took 1/2 an hour to install, its setup jsut to act as a stock unit untill I get the amp an stuff. It makes the crappy stock speakers sound 1/2 good its amazing, I will post pics of the install when I take it apart again to do the amp wiring. damn its a good looking unit, $575 inc a Ipod adapter from ryda, its got like a RRP of $800 or somthing stupid.

pics soon

definitely get another mono otherwise you arent getting the most potential out of the subs..
