Hi guys,

I have been asked to help a friend fit a 12 inch sub into an old style VW beetle he has been doing up.

There is not a lot of room behind the seat where he wants it, i am also restricted to keeping the enclosure at or below seat-back level.

I am wondering what the pros and cons of facing the sub downwards would be?

The following is not the actual enclosure just a diagram to help explain.


The sides of the enclosure will extend to the floor but the front and rear will not. I guess it will be a bit like a home theatre downfiring sub.

Any info would be greatly appreciated

Should be OK I think, the only real way to find out how it will sound is to try it and see.

Going to give it a try. Found some references to it with google. What i found stated that it shouldn't be a problem, it may even improve the sq. At the cost of a little volume.
