Hi, I'm just wondering what my options are for 2 and 4 channel amps that are able to be bandpassed?
The ones I know of at the moment are the DD S4 and the Zed Audio Draconia.
Just looking for a couple of alternatives...

Head unit can't do it? Much easier if you can do it from there.

Na, head unit can't do it... I have an AVN6000, so I'm going for a combination of an RF 3Sixty.2 and a decent amp with bandpass crossovers...

It didn't

But it has 5 channels with HP/LP/BP/AP adjustable crossover and the sub channel is LP only, so to go 3 way active plus sub, you need another crossover option for the midbass, the midrange or the tweeter seeing as you might as well use the sub channel on the 3 sixty for the sub...

Why not get the alpine h701 and controller. Gives you 3 way plus sub and centre. Will solve all your hassles.

Might as well just choose your amp and place a cap in line, might be a hell of a lot easier

I think you should buy the right processor to begin with, instead of purchasing the wrong one and trying to compensate for its shortfalls.

Oh, I didn't know that the H701 could be used with a non-alpine unit...
Would this be a better option than the 3 Sixty? If so, thats the go...

in that case, I'd be waiting for the Audison BitOne. 4 way crossovers, auto eq and t/a. nice bit of kit if you can get it

[edit] actually heres an idea. hows about providing us with a bit more information so we can give rational, informed advice.
1. Budget
2. Gear you already own
3. objectives
4. anything else that might be useful to know

DLS "A" series and I know ZX or Ti Phoenix Gold both have bandpass Xovers.
3 sixty isnt ideal for 3way+sub.
Its limit it 2way active + mono rears (run from centre output) + sub
I spoke to the RF rep and he suggested using multiple 360.2s to achieve 3way or 4 way active + rears + sub.
But yes, a H701+RUX controller with a decent LOC would be the way to go

I wouldn't need an LOC would I? I'm not using an oem head unit.

No you wouldn't, the PXA would use RCA's for a connection to a non Alpine unit
SStealth
Sep 4 2008, 04:52 PM
As above, no you wouldn't. Just one set of rca's from the 6000 into the left and right input of the h701 and then the h701 does everything else you want. 3 way plus sub and centre, 2 way plus rear and sub and centre for surround. 8 channels you can do alot with. All have T/A HP/LP 31 band eq, para and graphic. This is what you need and I dont know why damon hasnt mentioned it in the other thread yet.

PXA would be the best option probably. Or you can get V12 Alpine amps (MRV-F545 or MRV-F345) which have adjustable crossovers. 30-400hz, or 600-8khz with a flick of the 20x multiplier switch.

Thanks a lot everyone, I will be getting one as soon as I can find one... Then I can just use another PDX which I would prefer to do to keep everything the same anyway...
PXA is go

I have another question regarding the PXA H701 and my AVN 6000
I've read through the manual and from what I can gather, the volume is controlled by the RUX controller unless I have an AInet head unit. Does this mean that the volume on the AVN6000 won't work? or am I just not supposed to use the volume control on the AVN?
The reason I ask is that I have the steering wheel controls connected to my AVN, if the volume control on the head unit won't work after I connect the PXA then fine, but if it still does and I'm not supposed to use it, then I have to figure out a way to disconnect the volume control from the steering wheel controls.

you can use the volume on the AVN, but the PXA will not be getting a constant input - you can then just set the RUX volume like a 'gain' on the amp - so it doesn't distort.

Audison 6.1k has bandpass for some channels
All Audison amps in SRx, LRx & VRx can be band passed.
Either by on board crossovers like LRx 6.9 which can be band passed on all channels or in the case of 2 channel amps via a bypass output.

Thanks Pulse-R, Shiny_car actually answered that for me in a thread I started in general mobile discussion. I probably should have started this one there...

LRx6.9 - that's the one I was thinking... thanks Phil
