my sisters integra (1990 i think?) in new zealand has a bit of trouble with not starting and stalling sometimes. turns over but doesnt start. the mechanic came out this morning to have a look and recons its to do with the dizzy coil and module? i dont know hondas so i cant comment. he quoted $800 to fix this and apparently sounded like he knew what he was on about. does that sound about right? is it possible to recondition these parts for cheaper or pick them up from the wreckers and be able to test them somehow?

appreciate your input

Its not uncommon. $800 doesn't sound un-reasonable. However, being in NZ, the land of import cars, I would be scouting around the wrecking yards, and getting one second hand if possible.

Hell whole cars can be bought for $2500.

One thing to try and this is HIGHLY common with Integra, is the fuel injection relay, it happened with mine and nearly every other G2 Integra I know of. Basically you turn the key, and it won't fire, some times it will, other it wont.

If you check www.g2ic.com there is a detailed explanation of how to fix this.

Good luck.
