So the challenge, its a small boot space and with the amp that I have I can run 300RMS into it @ 2 Ohms

I'm looking at one 12 inch sub. Box no more than 1cu ft

Probably be a sealed box, music: RnB, Dance
Louie
Budget?

Not really an SQ section question either.

[apparently the challenge is also refreshing a thread before I post...Damn you again Shiny Jnr!]

There are a heap of subs out there in the ~$400 category. Alpine, ID, Focal DD, JL, Treo, RF all have offerings in your bracket. I find your lack of power disturbing, I don't know whether 150@4ohms or 300@2 will satisfy your wants with Dance and RnB, it'll get the sub moving for a while though.

You were almost 20 mins late to the thread tongue.gif I can't help that now can I laugh.gif

Edit - Do you plan on making your own subbox? In this thread of yours you're chasing a prefab one, but if you create your own I'm sure you will have a lot better results.

I will probably make my own smile.gif

So disappointing, I bought that amp when I didn't know much about car audio, got ripped off! Now I know just a little bit more!
I know 300RMS isnt much, but I'm not going to spend any more on an amp! I'll just stick to what I have!
Louie
I think everybody at one point or other (or more then once) has said those exact words. "I'm not going to spend anymore" and car audio don't go well.

Hell it was only recently I was talkin to Pat and said I was done buying car audio, a few days later and I had purchased and received some nice DLS UR6i speakers. Once you start buying gear it's already too late to back out tongue.gif

given the relative lack of power, perhaps a sub suited to a ported enclosure might be the best way forward in this case. Actually, the size limitation might put a cork in that idea.

hrm....sealed it is. Something with a high sensitivity would be good, maybe the Peerless XXLS 12"? (92db, 2.83V/1m)

If you can find it second hand, an Image Dynamics IDMAX 12 would be a nice choice and will do well off that sort of power. I have tried that sub using 250w rms in a 1.5cuft box, and it was quite loud. In a smaller box it should still be ok.
