Hi, with all the rage going on over there in general discussion about the fake Focal's, i had the urge to un-shelf and un pack my Focal's . smile.gif smile.gif smile.gif smile.gif YES. any way they look so nice i may simply mount them in a glass cabinet, no not really i will just use them!

Any way on topic...

i have 130v1 and 130a , yes they are old but new; I'm easily side tracked and distracted with projects!

the question being as the v1's have the TNA are the TN 47 (from a's) better or worse and also the a's crossover network looks much better though I'm not well versed when it comes to passive crossovers.

also would it be beneficial to consider other tweeters, Vifa , Scan.. and such come to mind

cheers

to add..

further research into Focal product line revels that the last years line up 130 KF kit used 130KP Woofer + TN 47 Tweeter + FA 130 KF Crossover. (the 130 KF kit is from there K2 Power Series line)

So the question now is what did Focal do?

The 130a kit i have is "READ OLD" but new DOB?? unknown? use the black fibber glass cone material (Access line)
The 130v1 kit i have is also old; two years, also new (Polly Glass line)

My clear assumption being that if i combine the 130a kit with the woofer from the 130v1 i should have over all a better kit?

The crossover from the 130a resemble that of the later 130v2? obviously the parameters may differ due to differing woofer, though they use the same TN 47 driver. 130v1 use the integral in line crossover network with the wires attached , the 130a is the separate much more professional looking job accustomed to the 130v2 and upper model kits. Are Focal skimping on the 130v1 kits to provide Polly Glass experience?

?..........

I think it's more important to use the right crossover for the tweeter, most of the midbasses are similar enough to work with each others' crossover.

Cheers, just as i was thinking and suggested :
"My clear assumption being that if i combine the 130a kit with the woofer from the 130v1 i should have over all a better kit?"

the 130a kit uses to what i assume being a better tweeter ,"TN 47". so as previously suggested i will simply use the better midbass from the 130v1 Polly Glass to create a better and safer kit incorporating the TN 47 .

cheers
