hey everybody, ive been looking around searching on some nice front splits for my car, atm i moved my old pioneer splits to the back while i was setting up my car for the finished project but ran out of money so i put my old 6x9s in the front. lol dont comment on this, i just wanted some sound at the front, after driving with no front speakers for 2 months it got annoying.
Any ways i have not listened to these speakers before but i am very keen on the Hertz HSK 165 splits, they seem to read up very good and they are at a good price. i want something that will go loud, and sound good, saw these and thought they might be the go.
Could any one else recomend me some other speakers to have a look at? If it helps music tasts very, i listen to prity much everything.
also i will be running these passive as i have an amp already and it gives 200wrms x 2 @4ohms.
looking at spending no more than $300 - $400
thanks in advance and also for all the other suport you guys have given me.

hey thanks guys, for the help guys, umm dont think ill go for DD or Alpine, i love DD subs, but the DD splits i think could be a bit better, and id rather not spend $440 on a 3way system, i dont think it would do it justice, but ill have a look for Vibe Space 6 and see what there like
any one know of any stores it the south easten subs of vic where i can find this stuff to have a listen to? the hertz and maby focal as well?

Have a good look at JL Audio VR600, normal street price roughly $450ish, but you should be able to bargain them down. A great speaker for that price.

PM a guy named "Prickles" and ask him about his system.
He auditioned $800 splits and bought the DDC6.5's.

i hurd the DDC6.5's in a ute, dunno about the quality of the install or if it was tuned corectly, but i dunno at the time i wasnt really happy with them, felt like something was missing, also i stoped looking into the DDC splits because i want to use this amp which gives about 200 Wrms each chanel, thought it might be a bit hi for these splits. can any one give me any info on the DDW splits? i was interested in looking at them at one stage

I listened to a set of Dyn's about a year back when I was looking for new mids, and i was practically appauled by how they sounded given their price point. Thanks to their reputation (and protests from others) I figured maybe either the other set was jsut very good (Focal K2P) or maybe I was just having an off listening day. I gave them a second chance (this time against about 5 or 6 other high end sets) and I walked away just as appauled as I did the first time.
The moral? Don't let the opinions of others blind you. If you didn't like a set of speakers the first time around, then chances are that you probably won't like them any more the second time around. Many fall into the trap of not being impressed by a product, but buying it anyway because everyone else keeps telling them how good it is....don't fall into the trap. It doesn't matter what everyone else likes, it only matters what
you like.

Not necessarily true.
What if, the first time you listened to the speakers they were installed incorrecty? Who knows how they were mounted, how the door was sealed, what the amp/head unit was set to.......

Or when you listened to them, they were on a demo board......

Just have a listen to all the speakers you can, evalutate them and go for your favourite. In that segment the tweeter isn't the best so get the one which creats the least fatigue. Especially if you plan on listening to music, a slight louder. If you have time for the install, then a 3 way split system would be the way to go. When the time comes get yourself an audiocontrol dqt and it will help make any speaker sound good. To a degree of course.

What part didn't you understand, not being rude just curious so I can explain myself
dyns only sound good incar...they just sound horrible in demo boards.
also dyns need lots and lots and lots and lots and lots of power behind them
2 x 200watts rms amp would be bare minimum for a set of dyn splits.

I dont understand this part specifically, are u just saying to pick tweeters that arnt fatiguing at high volume? I think im just tired... its taking me a while to read and understand some things...

The DD splits i listened to in a Ute, ill have a look around to see if i can here them in a sedan next time.
I had a listen to some focal and MB quats speakers the other day, but it was only on demo bord as he didnt have these in a car for me to listen to, so not a great way to audition them, but im liking the idea of the MB quats Discus splits, sounded decent and a good price, but want to listen to them in a car before making up my mind.
also mrock its not a mater of time with a 3 way system, i just dont beleave a 3 way system in my price rage would be a good choice, in saying that i will try and have a listen to some.
thanks for all guys

Hey mate,
I had a set of Discus splits installed in my 200 just the other week, sound deadened doors, running of a DD A2 2x125wrms. sound very nice and clear! awesome set of splits imo.
Im actually waiting on a DD C4b to replace the A2 so i can bridge the other two channels to a JL W3. but without the sub the Discus are still very good, lots of mid bass.
