Well my piece of crap alarm has finally decided it's going to conk out after 4-5 years, unfortunately it decided to conk out by driving my car into a fence in reverse when I hit the unlock key while picking it up from a wheel alignment, GOOD GOING YOU PIECE OF crap! At least it didn't go forward into an M3.

Now the fun part, what to replace it with. Looking at the Clifford G5 AvantGuard 5.1, anyone got an opinion on these? Only thing I'm not liking about it is a lack of 2-way pager, but most 2-way pager alarms on the market seem to be absolutely crap. I'm looking for some top notch security here, not just gimmicks, anyone want to give their opinion on what else is worth installing? Will most likely buy something next week.

Yea no real damage, just some light scratches to the bumper, and it's been fine since, I never park it in gear myself so even if it did happen on a normal day it wouldn't cause damage again.


Any advice on the alarm?

Are you buying that off eBay or somewhere? I dont know if you can get that in Aus.

What happened to Brant after they went Bankrupt? Did they fix themselves up, or get bought out by someone else? Taking my car to sydney for them to install an alarm has never hugely appealed to me and having a few friends who have had problems with them, they've found it a huge pain in the arse being in Canberra.

They also don't seem to have any advanced features like remote start or pager. I don't really have a problem with buying overseas as long as I have warranty.

The G5 is an awesome alarm. We do not carry stock but it is available. The thing that has always held the top of the line Cliffords back here is the difficulty of fitment.

What features are you looking for in the alarm?
