Hey guys. i hope this is in he right section. Was doing some tuning today and was trying to get a bit of a boost in the snare drum region and it got me thinking, around what frequency does a snare hit at? It would really help me tuning. Also, if anyone knows any links to this kind of information on intruments and frequncies it would be great.

thanks. Blu

Snare Drum: 100 Hz to 12 kHz,
center frequency at 1 kHz,
tight at 5-6 kHz (typical boost frequency),
crack at 8 to 10 kHz,
bottom at 100 to 300 Hz
and resonance between 800 Hz and 2 kHz.

thanks mate that was the exact info i needed to know

also know that like most instruments, snare drums can be 'tuned' to have their fundamental frequency at a particular point...marching band snares for example have a higher Fo, whereas country rock snares are typically tuned with a lower Fo

Thanks for the links Spyne - I also found them useful.

The 2nd link talking about the 'spectral saddle' for the bass guitar/kick drum relationship was interesting.
