Okay, time to end alot of speculation....

This project was kept under lock and key for the build time for many reasons but now its out and here is the build for everyone to watch. There will be a couple of new photos put up every day or two.

First of all a couple of facts;
- Total build time was 8 days (Many late nights, as it was after hours only)
- The first 2 days were spent planning the build (Intense Mathematics)
- CABIN was our testing ground, no prior testing until going in the lanes
- It is a self powered vehicle
- We've named it " Pushin' SPL "

2005 Perth CABIN AutoSalon Results:
SPL = 166.2dB Term-LAB
Frequency = 20Hz
Battery Voltage = 9.55VDC
Amplifier Current Draw = 982 Amps
Amplifier Power Input = 9378.1 Watts RMS
Amplifier Power Output = 6902 Watts RMS
Cone Excursion = 125mm peak to peak

Amplifier Full Power Test:
20,000Watts RMS for 55milliseconds @ 50Hz
13,000Watts RMS for 15 Seconds @ 50Hz

Future Enhancements:
Another Trailer For More Batteries !
Front 2-way Component Speakers
4-channel Power Amplifier
Forced Air Intake
Alternator
And a couple of other things !!

As you can see, our power supply is insufficient right now.
166.2dB is not bad for half power but !!
We can now reinforce the locking system on the cockpit, it was flexing 3mm !!

Here are some build photo's, more info to follow.....

Here we go....

A Wheelbarrow, a Pocket racer, A fridge trolley.....

These photos span the first three days....

I'm impressed, You guys did a great job with the limited ammount of time you had to build it. The hard work paid off .. you got some massive numbers up on the board smile.gif

Once the locks are sorted and the power is sorted, it will start getting really interesting. tongue.gif
APS
How about those Soundstream amps ay bloody awesome things no sign of shutdown even below 10 volts smile.gif.

The front of the barrow mimics a scaled down vehicle.
The transducer was on the inside of the front windscreen.

I still have great memories of you crazy WA boys and your hire car installs.

No your not still Street A champ, I meant since your still living in 2005, back to the future you were smile.gif
Frago
Hey Darryl.

Maybe we should get together & melt down a hire car !!
Come out of that "retirement" for a brief interlude mate clapping.gif

I'm sure we've got FAR more than enough gear between us to populate a van, truck or Fiat 500 ?!

I just bought my Dad a new Hyundai Accent SLX, he'll donate that for the cause I'm sure !!
Maybe Perth AutoSalon in July ?

Hey Clint, are you and/or Timmy heading over with Ang for PAS ??

not that car again the SS5+ disaster. JUST KIDDING but hopefully it does better then its not so good previous outing.

its got some stiff competition 160+ from team boomz, soon to be 160+ team SPL gnome larissa.

although i think this year is set to be the best year that SPL/dbdragracing has had numbers wise.

Daily driver, a few truck batteries, Earthquake amps at 1 ohm. I'd say 156.6 wasn't too shabby.

Regardless, they've made a lot of changes for this season. smile.gif

Not sure, I haven't sat down and discussed PAS.

The pizza in Adelaide was great, come on Frago you loved the Ange Special Desert Pizza... come to think about Mario's at Gold Coast was great too (remember that?)

The best thing about Adelaide, we smoked a Mustang driven by a P-Plater in the Vito with 5 onboard watching Overhauling the entire time.. I think your comment about getting sunburnt from the flip down screen was an apt comment, considering how bright it is.
Frago
Yeah, wow, bringing up these points re-inforces we all had a crankin' 2007 season !

Mario's was superlative Full Stop .
What a feed ! That was monsterous, and quality throughout !
Now I'm hungry Clint !

I'm still recovering from the welder's flash that fold down "Home Theatre" monitor gave me !!
That was a crankin' night !
I like Adelaide !
And remember Alanna ???? Gorgeous Lady !

Gold Coast was great, Great SPL scores from the fellow Yokals !
Our friend Phil drinking bourbon in the lanes all weekend !!
Hangin' a 5m SXAudio banner from our highrise building on the beach !
Then my Dad, I , Matt & Roy drove DRANGD back from the Gold Coast to Perth in 6 days !
Now that's another adventurous story !
Oh, and check out the next issure of InCar, DRANGD features in it !

And Darryl, what are ya plans for PAS '08 mate ??
Got ya monster machine still going??

Ahhh the lovely Alanna, I forgot that was her name smile.gif

You have to send me the pics that were taken with the promo models and Drangd.

I look forward to seeing the article, even though I have looked "all" over that wonderful creation.

Indeed 2007 was a rocking year.

Billy 79
not to meaning to go off topic and put a dampner on things. just reading over your little RESUME' there Frago, and out of those 5 SPL records you have in your sig Frago.

the 2006 and 2007 scores wouldnt have been done in monster class would they????? br />

and whats up with motorvation 2007 not one of the WA spl cars there, at the dbdrag event, whats the go there.
Frago
Hey Billy.Firstly, yep, they are Monster class. A class for me to play with my Speaker Dyno, and a fun class at that !!Secondly, over the past few years MotorVation has grown immensley, with over 1400 entries and only 800 cars or less to accept for entry. The standard of the entrants cars to the "Whole" show is scruitineered, and in the last few years (2007, 2006, etc.) some SPL cars and the like that applied for entry were not accepted due to the lack of Show Car presentation for the Car Show !Also I beleive that some were denied for a lack of safety compliance with rear mounted wet-cell batteries.I beleive it is similar at SummerNats in Canberra. Where the Sound Off is one event of many at the show, and if your entry is not accepted to the show, then you can't compete in any of it's events (Dyno, Driving, Sound-Off, etc.)AutoSalon has similar criteria's, although they allow "Roughly" finished cars to compete in dB Drag, by parking them outside & not in the Show & Shine Indoor Arena.AutoSalon has venues they can do this at, usually in Roller Door Access Areas. There was a time that "Roughly" finished cars were promoted at some major shows, to get the SPL scene going here in W.A., and I used to sponsor the "Raw Award" for pretty much the Dodgiest Installs !! MDF warriors etc.Alot of my customers over the past 10 years have done their own installs, I've tuned them & we've hit the numbers. They haven't dedicated much time at all to cosmetics, just power ! And fair enough. These cars at CarPark events, are fantastic. My personal cars, their installs, and my other clientel's car's that I've built have always been to a show standard, that's my passion.Time has gone on, and the presentation of major Car Shows has improved, the organisers of these major events tightened their rules, filtering the above said issue of far more entries than they can accomodate.Any event I've been involved with, I've always tried to raise the bar and give patrons of these shows the eye candy they pay for.Although skeptisism has always been apparent, usually from MEA / MEA members, especially over the last 3 or 4 years, my continual push for quality has obviously rubbed off. Some SPL cars were accepted into MotorVation 22 - 2008 this year, and we've got some great media coverage. This is directly due to the owners putting the effort in to impress the Event Scruitineers who judge the entry applications.I've now noticed in another thread, this "cosmetic scruitineering" approach is now being adopted by other car audio store trade stands for the up & coming Perth AutoSalon 08.It's been many years in the making, and great to see it growing, flourishing & being presentable, here in Perth, and across Australia. It's a trend I was a part of in the U.S. in 1999, explaining the observations there is another story, but not different to this one! With MotorVation / Sounds Xplosive dB Drag Racing events, past, present & future, Angelo has been involved, clarifing all entry & event criteria. For more information, on said MV events, go to http://motorplex.com.au/motorvation with any queries.2009 is only 7 ish months away

Where's all my grammar & spaces gone !!Check out the MotorVation 2008 Sound-Off DVD Chapter: http://soundsxplosive.com.au/MotorVation22-SXA.avi . It's great to see Joel smiling !!We all do this for fun !
Billy 79
ah ok no probs. luckily places in NSW + ACT dont stop purpose built SPL cars from entering shows
Frago
Yes it is sanctioned, has been since I Retail Registered in 2003 , SummerNats is sanctioned too with that entry format.Jeez, I'm havin a hard time switching back to Rich Text Format !It looks sooo complex without spaces.
Billy 79
i reckon it wont be a sanctioned event now. being that purpose built SPL cars cant enter and that its not open to all cars. i know some will say why do i care as im in NSW but i think some WA guys may care that they cant enter a sanctioned event because a promoter discriminates. so thats why i dont think it will be sanctioned in future if its not open to purpose built dbdrag cars then it cant be a dbdragracing event then hey? sorry if thats offended you but i think its a bit unfair some jokers wont allow cars to enter. dbdrag racing events are open to all cars. if the show promoter doesnt want to have dbdrag cars at his event then dont run dbdrag events just run un-sanctioned SPL events, where they can be picky and choosey then. but anyway thats enough for me going to calm down its annoyed me this has wink.gif
Frago
I don't think you seem to understand the intricasies of this event Billy, probably one of many, nonetheless.Every year, MotorVation's entry criteria has been deliberated with Angelo - dB Drag Australia. All approved & sanctioned. This year we saw the acceptance of "dedicated" SPL cars because they took pride in their vehicles, and created show cars for car shows. (i.e. neat paint, wheels, boots, engine bays, interiors, etc.). It doesn't take million dollar workmanship, just some simple trimming & paint for a neat appearence. It is for the benefit of the industry & public awareness. Especially when MV 22 saw over 800 "accepted" entrants & over 30,000 people through the gates !MotorVation 23 will have even higher standards purely because of more entrants applying for places.Everyone hones their projects year to year, Show Cars, Dyno Cars, SPL Cars, all the like. There'll be new cars entering, and the ones that have been in the past events will be doing more to step up SPL & electrical safety, and along the way cleaning up their pride & joys cosmetically.Everyone at these events whant their cars to stand out !This year has seen the 6th Sanctioned dB Drag Racing Event at Kwinana Beach, next year will be the 7th.And it's hard to not have a sanctioned event when I'm flying in the Official dB Drag Racing crew from Victoria to help out & run the event !As done in past events.Don't stress Billy, it's only getting better over here !!You may have to come over with your weapon !! PAS is in a couple of months . . . . . .
Billy 79
understand what ya saying frago. i just got me nose out of joint about it that was all. its all good.

i would like to oneday put the car on a freight train send it over and come compete over there. its still only a new car with still an bit of work to go and some ricing up of the car body kit, wheels and interior wise still to be done.
thats the main reason i even got the new car was so it could be done up to look nicer, with a little more show appeal about it.

but anyway understand what ya mean. and see how i go i may come over next year if all goes well.

cheers billy
