Furthering discussion from this thread relating to a proposed "MEASPL" SPL competition Format, I'd like to bring everyone up to date.

After lengthy discussions with Angelo from db Drag Racing (Australia), MEA is now pleased to announce that we will be running sanctioned db Drag Racing events in 2010 in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Canberra. At this stage, Perth will continue conducting MEASPL events.

What this means? MEASPL will be shelved for the time being. The intention as mentioned many times was never to compete with dB Drag Racing, but to answer the call of competitors and enthusiasts Australia wide for SPL Competition. We believe that by working with an already established international organisation, the benefits far outweigh creating and managing a brand new format.

Some of the concerns MEA had with running these events have been addresses, and we can look forward to as many as 6 sanctioned events in each of the capital cities mentioned above, per season. In addition to these events, there will be further unsanctioned events as well as test and tune days. The dB Drag Racing events will operate in conjunction with MEASQ events.

At each event, and not part of the dB Drag Racing series, there will be two additional classes. The first class is a "Novice" class designed for first timers, and / or those car audio enthusiasts with pre-fab subwoofer boxes. This class is purely designed to give people "a go". They will get an MEA certificate stating their highest achieved SPL on the day. The second class offered is in conjunction with Digital Designs, and will be a 10" Subwoofer Challenge. The rules are quite simple .... how loud can you get with a single 10" specific model 10" DD woofer. More on this later.

We look forward to this opportunity and thank Angelo for his willingness to work with MEA on this.

You can look forward to many more events, lower entry fees, MASSIVE advertising of events and much more!

This is good news for dB drags in Australia. I still think the idea behind MEASPL was/is right and I just home hope these two additional local classes will achive the same if not better result for the sport.

Good work guys!

PS Its true Cide no one gives a damn about NT, WA or Tassie. tongue.gif
Edit : or adelaide - hell no one cares about SA so much that i forgot to even add it to the list tongue.gif

Alberts cannington r running the sound off there and itll be MeaSPL rules

Marc, it may seam like a stupid question but why cap the number of events at 6??
Marc
BWS - that's not our decision but we support it.
6 events per state is a great start IMO. To be honest in VIC for example, along with busy lifestyles and other commitments we're only normally able to manage 6-7 events per year anyway.
billy a.k.a. shakes
plus a single event promoter can only hold 6 events per year in their state anyway. 6 events is great one every 2 months.

for NSW. between dorans 6 events, frankies 5 events, and MEA's 6 events. thats 17 sanctioned events for the year thats more then 1 per month when ya look at it that way. not to forget the many un sanctioned ones on during the year also.

thats NSW not sure what other states will be like. the veterans should go get a few stores to look at hosting some that way yas will have more BWS.

So each autobarn store is a single entity as they are all indedpendantly owned??
billy a.k.a. shakes
yeah thats it BWS. if 3 autobarns held 6 events that would be 18 events for yas up there in QLD. plenty to goto then :-)

No dramas then...

shaping up to be interesting times ahead for spl.... will be good timing when i get a new car, cos the charade can be a dedicated spl'r then.. looking forward to this..

Ah wicked! my bad sorry didn't mean to take the thread OT - I'm glad to see that DBDrag will see some prevalence in the upcoming season - and the addition of the two classes for novices and for abit of fun is a welcome change, i know we're definetely gearing up for that single woofer challenge next year.

We are having a test and tune this weekend, on the gold coast come along if you would like and have a chat...
White410
yay db drags
XFT250
So mark Im guessing that it will still be costing around the 45 dollars again as in this year.
I know that this has come up with others that compete in the sq comp. because it becomes a bit of a expensive day with both .

I'm sure you have read some of the other discussions on this topic in recent times... there is no need to charge 45 bucks...
Marc
And I already posted somewhere (perhaps in this thread), that entry fees will be the same as our MEASQ $35, or $45 for both MEASQ and dB Drag Racing.

It may even work out cheaper yet, once we do the sums and figure out what's required to break even with trophies and associated event expenses.
XFT250
Oh ok i must have missed that Marc .
Well that is awesome mark if we could do that id be very happy.
Just need to spend a bit of money and get my system up and running properly again .
