Furthering discussion from this thread relating to a proposed "MEASPL" SPL competition Format, I'd like to bring everyone up to date.
After lengthy discussions with Angelo from db Drag Racing (Australia), MEA is now pleased to announce that we will be running sanctioned db Drag Racing events in 2010 in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Canberra. At this stage, Perth will continue conducting MEASPL events.
What this means? MEASPL will be shelved for the time being. The intention as mentioned many times was never to compete with dB Drag Racing, but to answer the call of competitors and enthusiasts Australia wide for SPL Competition. We believe that by working with an already established international organisation, the benefits far outweigh creating and managing a brand new format.
Some of the concerns MEA had with running these events have been addresses, and we can look forward to as many as 6 sanctioned events in each of the capital cities mentioned above, per season. In addition to these events, there will be further unsanctioned events as well as test and tune days. The dB Drag Racing events will operate in conjunction with MEASQ events.
At each event, and not part of the dB Drag Racing series, there will be two additional classes. The first class is a "Novice" class designed for first timers, and / or those car audio enthusiasts with pre-fab subwoofer boxes. This class is purely designed to give people "a go". They will get an MEA certificate stating their highest achieved SPL on the day. The second class offered is in conjunction with Digital Designs, and will be a 10" Subwoofer Challenge. The rules are quite simple .... how loud can you get with a single 10" specific model 10" DD woofer. More on this later.
We look forward to this opportunity and thank Angelo for his willingness to work with MEA on this.
You can look forward to many more events, lower entry fees, MASSIVE advertising of events and much more!
