Henry, if you REALLY want to know how something sounds, a poll ain't going to do it. People telling you that they think is an SQ sub without you hearing it ain't really going to make your mind up anyway.
Why not ring around and find out who has what sub in stock and go there with your car and demo the sub in your car to get the BEST idea of what they will sound like and I'm sure that that excersice will set your mind and ears to rest.
Thats my 2c, take it with a grain of salt if you like. Im not being smart, I'd rather do it that way if I was interested in something than ask different peoples experience as I'm sure their ears aren't the same as yours nor would they listen to the same style of music nor have the same car or sme equipment as you do...

ICACHA: i understand what you mean... apparently in Indonesia, there ain't so much option... usualy people go for Phase Linear Aliante, Alto Falstaff and JL W6v2 as their preference for SQ sub... Aliante and Fatstaff pretty much sounds the same... and i don't really like the sound of the sub... it does play quite low (Fs 19)... i have aliante in my car and by the end of the week i was thinking to take it off... i am not happy at all...
I used to have 2x12" IDMAX in my car... i love those kind of sound... soft but yet deep, tight and play loud too... i sold those subs with a thought of getting the IDMAX 12" D2v3... but it is quite funny selling my IDMAX and getting another IDMAX so was thinking to try other subs...
However, those subs that i mentioned in the pool are not available in Indonesia market except TREO CSX... i've asked around and no one ever heard those subs... so i reckon i should ask in the forum...

Have u heard of a subwoofer made by TC sounds?? Eclipse Titanium (3HP motor) & Alumunium (TC7 motor) is made by them, i heard they make an excellent SQL woofer (Ascendant Audio, Elemental Design).
Some picture of the woofer, very plain and well.....not appealing.
henry
i thought i had convinced you to stick with the idmax and maybe change the box a little
anyway good to see you had a play around with a few differnet brands
i love my jlaudio 13w7 but it seems like people on this forum tend to preferr idmax, boston g5s RE xxx subs over this
my single jlaudio 13w7 in a ported box gives me enough low down bass to make me happy. I use it x-overed @ 50 18db/oct so really it doesnt do too much compared to most peoples subs on this forum(for example crossing over a sub @ 80hz). It really only is a low end fill to add a bit of body in the music.

jas: a friend of mine wanted to buy my idmax so badly so i decided to sell them... now i'm confused which subs should i use... i just got a good news that Adire and Re Audio is now available in indonesia... however, the distributor is located pretty far away from where i live... its like different state... the RE is arriving in 2 weeks time and Brahma is in 4 weeks time...
do you have any opinions? have you tried those subs before? what will you recommend me? because its pretty funny if i have to buy another IDMAX... hahahaha...
PG is outta list coz PG indonesia has no stock for quite a while... and the TREO i heard is more to SPL than SQ... that's what ppl said in the sound domain forum... so the options are narrowed into
1. IDMAX
2. Adire Brahma
3. Eclipse Titanium

Hey henry, confused about subs eh, shouldn't have sold your IDMAX in the first place

.
I'll be getting TC sounds sub in about 1 month time, by then i'll be comparing it against IDmax that my cousin has (12v3), using the same box and power. The one i got is from www.soundsplinter.com, that's the company that sell TC product to the public, for the TC itself go to www.tcsounds.com. They only sell online btw. Good luck bro.

Blackrazor: The DLS Iridium sub is currently not available in Indonesia... they are on the way and willl be here in the next couple of weeks... but yeah once the sub is arrived i can get an audition...
Have you tried DLS Iridium sub tho??? I talked to Peter (DLS sweden)... he came to Indonesia last 2 weeks... and he said the DLS Iridium subwoofer is an amazing sub... just for your info, DLS releasing a new range or speaker called Nobelium (but only come in 2 ways) as well as the subwoofer...

I've had a quick try yes, very nice sub. Quite musical, the absolute output volume isnt stunning compared to, say, an IDMAX or Brahma, but its very punchy and clean, and matches well with the Iridium fronts

As for the Nobelium, i know they initially wanted to name the Iridium range that but didnt receive permission from the Nobel estate to use the family name. So looks like they did for the new range : should be very interesting. If they are one knotch up from the Iridiums, they will be a very, very nice speaker indeed, because the Iridiums are currently used in 3 of the top 5 scoring IASCA SQ cars as it is

EDIT : I found this pic of the Nobelium's on the Russian DLS site... it doesnt seem to be an upgrade to the Iridiums, more like an upgrade for the UP series Ultimates

heimerich
Aug 3 2005, 12:29 PM
The idea of designing Nobelium is to sit below Iridium speakers... however, they are flattered with the outcome... so instead of sitting below iridium, Nobelium will be the top of the range DLS speaker... and the price is around 30-40% more expensive than the Iridium... Nobelium only comes in 2 ways and subwoofer... the tweeter is softdome tweeter but the midbass is not made by paper... they're using a new material that they believe to have a better result than paper... and it does (according to peter DLS sweden)...
I love the Iridium speakers and I can't wait to audition Nobelium... heard that the first shipment is arrived in the next 2 months...

Hi Henry,
The TREO CSX range sub is more for SPL, there are other woofers in the TREO range for sound quality you are better off going for the either the SSi 12 or the SSx12 these two drivers are very impressive. Treo is NOT a SPL product only and this is where the consumer is misleaded.
Please help!!!

BassMobster: I used Treo SSx 12" before... it is an excellent SQ sub but when i compare to my IDMAX, with the same power in the same car, IDMAX produce a tighter, softer and deeper sound than Treo... It is the best subwoofer that I have ever heard... but since IDMAX is not available in Indonesia, I always keep recommending my friend the SSx...

Im sure i read on the PG forum that the Elite 12d come's with the SQ cone but you can order a special SPL cone.
Its one of only a handful of subs where you can interchange the cone.

keep an eye on this thread after the great sub comparison bbq.
I'm interested in listening to the Treo.
Have heard the IDMAX in a stationary car - not the best indication of how it performs. It was a little "boomy", but + road induced noise such as wind, tyre noise I'd say the sub would sound quite good.
forget polykev focals, utopia is by far a step above.

ive only heard the 13inch and 15inch versions
the results that you are after are box dependant
i just hope you didnt place the sub into a sealed box, that would be a horrible result
someone like madisound can design a few different sub boxes with leap 4.5 for a small fee, maybe this is a good option for you
this way you can specify tuning, phase response(to a point) and group delay

I have the DLS IR10 in 2 of mys car and it sound stunning. Feed it with A6 for best result. Nobelium will feature cast basket for the first time in DLS family. The cone will be magnesium alloy. the tweeters have heaps amount of upgrade to it too.
