Hey guys.

I'm only new here but have been reading through posts for the last month and have found a great wealth of info. It has opened my eyes to alot on car audio I have been missing out on.

I just bought a BA Falcon and am planning a fairly resonable stereo setup. Here is what I have sitting waiting to be installed -

Audiocontrol LC6 line convertor/line driver (for the factory head unit)
Eclipse 8062 Splits (Front)
Infinity Kappa 5x7 co-ax (rear)
Scosche HD7004 4x100 WRMS amp (speakers)
4 x IDv3D4 12" subwoofers
eAudio 3000D (subs) In the process of buying now
Lanzar 2.4F Capacitor, 0 Gauge power and ground, Odyssey EV1000 battery.

Here is my dilemma. After reading though the forum plus many other forums I am thinking of changing to a different subwoofer setup. Which of the following would you guys recommend -

1) Use my current 4 x IDV3D4 12's in a 4 cuft sealed box running 2000WRMS @ 2 ohms.

2) 2 x RE SX 12's in a 4 cuft ported box tuned low running 2000WRMS @ 2 ohms.

3) 2 x RE SX 15's in a 4 cuft sealed box running 2000WRMS @ 2 ohm (i already have this box from a previous install)

4) 1 x RE XXX 15/Adire Brahma 15/DD 9515 in a 4 cuft ported box tuned low running 2000WRMS @ 2 ohms.

My objective is clean SQL at all volumes. I realise that such a big car has dramas getting decent bass, but I believe 1 of the above can do this. I mainly listen to Dance, Rap and Heavy metal.

All thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

p.s - Sorry for the huge post sad.gif

To be honest I like option number 4, but I would prefer to only have one sub in my boot. If you have the ID's try them out but I would think that one XXX or DD would easily sound better and louder than 4 ID's. Had a look at Soundstream?, just looking at your name wink.gif
jas
oh man thats soo many subs and so much power.

do you need your system to be that loud???

i use a jl 13w7 ported and its enough by a long shot.

R U CRAZY. that much sub will blow your ears. If your ear drum alredy blown & U can only feel the vibration of the bass. I will choose option 4. In case you feel like tunrning in to a hardcore SQ guy option 4 will give U peace of mind knowing that it is a great SQ sub as well.

as far as i know xxx is no longer available in aus (I could very well be mistaken); you'd have to source second hand. On a side note RE recommends a 4 cuft enclosure tuned to 27Hz for sql with a 15" XXX (source: http://www.reaudio.com/html/ )

i would use what you got
have the subs turned down
and when you need it
turn them back up

thats what i do

Thanks for the replies.

Maybe I am crazy, but those chest thumping drum solo's really do it for me laugh.gif

I'm kind of leaning towards the 4 x 12's at the moment but ID recommends 1.25 cuft per woofer and no more than 400wrms power. Not sure if they would sustain the abuse for very long. And the box being smallish would mean I loose some of the lower bass, which I do love to listen too.

I have never heard a single high powered ported 15" sub in full flight so i'm a bit unsure on investing big $$$ on one. The last thing I want is putting time and money into a decent setup, and then being dissapointed by the results.

Cheers.
DD Phil
A single hard core woofer will kill the four cheaper ones every time.

In output, sound quality or both?.

Although I would love to see the look on peoples faces when they hear my system and learn its only a single woofer doing the damage laugh.gif

You dont have to have the amp up full, they dont put out a constant power, the power increases as you turn up the volume. As for "wowing" people with only having one sub, I really think you should invest in one expensive 10" sub, nice and tight for the drum solos and then you can wow people when it makes heaps of noise too smile.gif

See my sig for help, I think you are asking the wrong section of the forum smile.gif

Either go the single DD9515 or XXX 15" or.... 2 x 12" IDMAXs.
Either of these subs are killers. 4 x IDMAXs is overkill, as much of a nice subs as they are...

If you wanna be REALLY crazy... get 2 x E Audio 3000D on the XXX 15" biggrin.gif

THAT would be SQL hardcore!

ultim8DTM5, I do believe that SQL does exist. I have heard many a system that is both very loud and great sounding. In my opinion it is very possible to have the best of both worlds.

But then again, my idea of Sound Quality may be completely different to everyone else's smile.gif
DD Phil
Don't believe what they say! You can have a incredible sounding system that plays LOUD. It's just a lot harder. smile.gif

Not everyone wants to only listen to jazz at 70dB............

youll need some incar horns to match the 4 12inch idmax subs

ive seen some one the forsale section

ahauahaua,
i think u misread his post mate...its 4 ID subs not 4 IDmax...theres a big diff....4 idmax would literally blow yer earbrums out if fully ultilized...no doubt. Neway....i would go for the 1 adire 15, with 2000rms n a big enuff box....it goes pretty loud man. tongue.gif tongue.gif any louder it will just drone the SQ up front.

Scosche HD7004 4x100 WRMS amp (speakers)

Bumping and old post I know... but want to know what you think about this amp? Implanning on getting the same to drive a pair of JBL 6.5 comps (front) and a 6.5 co-axial in the rear. Its got enough juice I reckon but what about sound..and filtering??

cheers mate
