g'day,
just about to buy a HU that has MP3 (bit behind the times but i'm still excited), anyway, for the HU to play the MP3 cd, what has to be done.
is it just a case of opening my recordnow, burning a data disc with as many mp3's as i can fit, then playing it in the cd player?
for scroll text does it have to have some tag or something?
any help or info would be greatly appreciated.
cheers.

Just burn an ISO data disk and dump the .MP3 files onto it, like you would to store them or lend to a friend. Easy as that.

Title info is taken from the ID3 tags in the files.

okay, thought it was that simple but just wanted to check.
cheers

your cd burner program probably also has an option to burn an MP3 disc, which does pretty much the same thing as doing it like a data disc, but it will filter out all the files you drag across that arn't MP3's....

However if you want to set up different folders of mp3's, thats a little more complicated.

Say, for instance, you wanted to burn "Funk, club, chillout, jazz"

You have to create a new folder on the iso image, then name it.

YOU HAVE TO DO THIS IN ORDER

some progams are a little finicky if, for instance, you create three new folders, take the third one, rename it, and then re-arrange it to be first. Its very rare, but it can happen.

Also, the hierarchy of folders used is different for different brands. Alpine units can have folders within folders, but its can again be a pain to set this up properly.

Download any mp3 compatabile alpines user manual to see what i mean.

but yeah, even though its a little more complicated, its still easy as piss smile.gif
