Is it safe to assume that if I buy a car off ebay, from someone who claims to be a dealer, and he has an LMCT which checks out(still waiting on that back from him), that I will recieve the same level of buyer-protection that I would be afforded if I bought from an actual dealer lot?

Or would the transaction be considered to be conducted outside of the trading structure and therefore a private sale?

Ive always been abit suspicious of buying cars from ebay.
If you can inspect the car or get someone too that would make your life easier, or as long as what he/she says about the car is true then you shouldn't have a problem.

I dont trust car salesmen at all.

Is the car near you so you can have a look, or near someone who could look for you? be your safest bet, otherwise your kind of buying blind.

buying a car on ebay, you would be pretty foolish to not inspect the car before bidding. If the guys a dealer, then after you win the auction, don't pay over the internet, go to where he is and pay him like you would pay any sort of dealer, and get all the papers you need (or whatever, ive never bought a car). If the guy doesn't treat it like a dealer sale, then by the sounds of it, you would have the right to reject the sale.

Contact the guy and ask him. And don't get conned.

yeah just called him, said someone might have put down a deposit already he's checking the books to see if someone has.

I called to see if I could take a testdrive, as its not a problem getting there (its 150 m away from my gf's house ) to give a spin, and the LMCT checks out to whats advertised. Now only to hope no ones bought it, cause it was a damn good price smile.gif

Edit: forgot to mention he said if it wasn't sold I could definitely come around and give it a spin.
