OMG! What's with all the ugly waffle grilles on the woofers?

What score did it do? It did 155.5 on the old TermPro, which would equate to around 148, but all that gear's 6 years old now!

It was the loudest car in Australia when I built it in 1999.

145.1
DD Phil
Not a bad score considering it's age.

Those MTX 225HOs only make 600Wrms at 1 ohm each, a total of 1200W.

I've always wanted to know how loud it could go with some power!

Phil what the hell were you thinking facing the woofers that way smile.gif.

Take out the top row and that car will be louder smile.gif.

Major cancellation going on there facing the subs nearly at each other.

Really, who told you that?

How long is a 54Hz wave?

Phil
APS
About as long as my pants smile.gif.

And Theo told me that you shouldnt face woofers directly or almost towards each other because there will be major cancellation going on smile.gif.

So your theory is based on nothing???

Phil
APS
I dont have theories just knowledge of what i hear from other people . Theo is not nothing i learned a lot from him in the past. And simply of what i have tested in my garage.

How were those subs wired top row out of phase from the bottom in push pull configuration or what?
Audio Express
children pls....
Advenjah
Just love the huge magnets on those subs!
No room for a spl sub in that setup.
KAL SPL
Hey Goerge smile.gif where does the mic go for testing ??? at the top of the windscreen or in the middle of the car on the dash on 1 side ?
the path lengths would be the same.

If anything the loudest point is at the bottom of the windcreen where the mirror is , the top row has nothing to do with it.

Tell Theo to read some more books on horns:)smile.gif
APS
I didnt know they had any?

That is a stupid question. Really.
APS
Any reason why that is a stupid question?
Warboat
The subs are about a foot from each other and you are asking if he wired them out of phase? push pull configuration?
Jeez man, you're supposed to be the "Soundstream state manager" and you ask questions like that???
APS
I just asked dude it doesnt mean thats the way they have to be wired.

And i do my job very well thank you very much.

What's so unbelievable about getting flamed for making stupid statements about well proven cars for there time? Your just proving how limited your knowledge is.

depends on the medium it's travelling through wink.gif

assuming air vsound ~= 331.4+0.6Tc (where Tc = temp of air (oC))
so assuming 25oC => 346.4m/s

v=f*lambda
346.4/ 54 = lambda (wavelength) = ~6.42m

cancellation? I think not wink.gif

Finally.........an intelligent response smile.gifsmile.gif

But you're forgetting, we always ran the car full of jelly beans, what's the speed of sound through jelly beans. smile.gifsmile.gifsmile.gifsmile.gifsmile.gifsmile.gif

dont the red ones go faster?
bob
The red ones might go faster, but the black ones taste better.
tuneman
aint nothing wrong with the V its a good method of lowering impedience.
there's actually a optimum angle to have the subs, i think it is around 30 degrees and because there on an angle cancelation isn't a problem and it possibly could be louder with some taken out but thats cos it would then be ported... simple, sealed boxes were all the rage for spl in aust back then would have been a nice music system though

if you wired some out of phase the horn effect wouldn't work its not that hard to understand
