Results for NSW Round 4.
Due to the poor turnout, only 8 competitors, this has been the last round of the NSW State Championships.

Judges Choice and Encouragement Awards were not awarded on the day due to the low entry numbers.

The NSW Admin and judging team would like to thank those who have competed in and supported CAASQ during the year.
Whilst it is understood that a variety of misfortunes and so on came together on the day so that many were unable to attend, it was a pretty unfortunate state of affairs that the last round came to this so that there will be no Round 5.

CAASQ Admin Team will be discussing invitations to the National Finals and other issues arising and we will advise in due course.

No round 5?

That saddens me alot........NSW could definitely be a very competitive state, if only people took the time to make use of events like these.

People need to realise that it's not just a competition - its a chance to share ideas/critisism & to recieve advice from other enthusiasts.........a great opportunity if one is serious about the quality of their sound system.

Will CAA be looking at advertising alot more come next year?

Not everyone has the time for forum browsing - however looking into other channels of marketing these events SHOULD be considered.

YES it is expensive to advertise in magazines and other forms of media, but im sure the outcome will exceed the input

Unfortunately we cannot expose CAASQ to another embarrassment like this one was.

For the real value of the competition, I could look no further than you and your car, T. Was working the best it has all year yesterday imo and a shame you couldn't be there so I could have congratulated you on the effort. Well done!

Advertising IS expensive and leads to all sorts of issues:
Increase in comp "fees" (signiificantly).
Scheduling with hosts very far in advance which is difficult for them to commit to, business being the way it is.
It is difficult and time consuming enough on a round by round basis to organise these things. To schedule all-State rounds for a champ year in advance with PI insurance issues, body corp permissions with hosts in complexes and so on.
To get any value from advertising, that is what we would be looking at, and then some.....

Still, we are always looking at how we can do it better, and you can be sure that we will continue to do that.

I echo Chris's comments and dissapointment that we have had to make this decision.

CAASQ will see some changes for the 06 season, major and minor that will hopefully allow CAASQ NSW a healthier future, but unfortunately the current competitor base simply does not justify events.

A small upshot is that for the remainder of the '05 season, and NSW competitor wishing to compete recieves free entry in the VIC and/or QLD series should they be willing to travel (as did the entire competitor base in the '04 season).

I guess there's some time to prepare your cars for National Finals now.

On another note, if you did wish to try and see a Round 5 for NSW prior to finals, as Chris said, this may be possible if there are at least 14 entrants, on a pre-paid basis. I'm sure Chris/Ben would then be willing to find a suitable host for the event.

If it wasnt for CAASQ events i wouldnt specifically know what areas i should focus on to improve.....and for that i thank the judges alot - not to mention George and Marty for putting up with me

Still upset that i couldnt be there......but i couldnt get time off because we're short staffed

Ah well.....the four trophy's are looking mighty fine up there on the shelf

You don't know how paranoid you get till you drive a car in a suburb that would get lifted from under your nose in a heart beat All was good, like no one tried anything or I might of had to get angry hahahaha

Chris, if the proposed host store was to do some advertising of its own in store like for example a banner for each state (supplied from CAASQ membership funding) that got shipped from host store to host store which could advise customers that this is going to be the next store to host CAASQ and a date that can get pinned on the bottom of the banner and a for more information goto www. you know where. Now surely that does not sound like an expensive idea? If it does then maybe it's time to call it quits

Now what you think, does it sound like a plan or is this going to be put in the 'we'll think about it for a while basket?'

One thing to think about while we are all upset about the turn out, lets hypothetically say that 100 people turned out yesterday and they genuinly wanted to compete. What you do, 1st 10-20 cars can compete and the rest tough titties due to only having 3 judges there?

If there is to be more competitors there needs to be more judges, but the most crutial part of this is the starting time. If there was to be more cars than the judges could handle, why are the start times all over the place. In events that I've worked on/with many years ago, you were either there before the starting time or you missed out its that simple. People then think about doing it twice if they are serious about competition.

Saying all that it can be sumed up as a CATCH 22 !!!

I know that the points only accumilate in each state seperatly, but due to the circumstances, if a NSW competitor gained points in Vic or QLD, does that count to there NSW points?

We're well aware of things that can be done, and things that will be done George.

It's being discussed as a group privately (CAASQ Admin) now.

In terms of funding etc, you seem to bring this up time and time again, with the belief that there must be many dollars flying around to be used. The sad truth (which has been explained to you on many occassions previously) is that there isn't and that they are tied up/invested/spent on National Finals event and trophies/presentation.

I'm closing this thread as these just seem to run around and around in circles each and every time. The situation has been posted, and we're now working on it privately. If anyone would like to make any suggestions / contributions etc then I would prefer to hear them and discuss them with you privately via email.
