Hi everyone!
Well, after years of faithful service, I'm replacing my old Jaycar metal cone 10" with something a bit better. I already have one of the new Jaycar monoblocs (was a present) and I am looking to spend $800 MAX on a new sub (already have a few hundred set aside for some new cabling and a box).
The possibilities so far:
- IDMAX10
- Boston G5 10"
- DD 3510
*I chose 10's due to lower prices and it means I can use a smaller box, but if a 12 will suit better then I'll go for it.
What I'm after is people's opinions of these subs, and how they would perform playing almost anything, from rock (mostly Dave Matthews Band, Live, etc) to dance (mostly house and lighter trance) to jazz (Ian Cooper, etc). I'm really after punchy bass that hit's hard and low with no boominess. The car it's going in is a 1991 Ford Laser hatch. Also, any recommendations of box size and type would be appreciated.
Thanks heaps everyone!
Dom
btw- if this has been covered before feel free to delete this thread and point me in the right direction, but i searched and couldn't find anything relevant

You'd be happy with all three, they're all great woofers.
Our 3500 pobably handles the most power and has the most output potential, however that may not be that important to you, especially with a smallish amp like the Jaycar.
Car Audio and Electronics reviewed the ID Max 10, DD 3510, RF T210 and JL W6 a few months back, if you send me an email I'll forward it to you.

fhrx recently held the "great subwoofer comparison event" and if results for 12" subs can be translated directly to the 10" versions from each company, then the boston from memory was the better overall performer (power handling, cone excursion, control, sq), the dd was great for power handling and cone excusion (sound level), and the idmax was great for control and sq.
do a search for the event and have a read of the results
