I was told last week by a police officer that my car can not be a show or sound off vehicle after sitting in at the foreshore at Newcastle last week playing with my car stereo. He said to me "You have to be stupid a Camry can not be a show or sound car so you may as well take it home." After pointing out that it is my competing car and that it is an "Apollo" he left me alone but has anyone else ever had that or is it just me?

Hey! Camry's are awesome cars to use for SQ competitions. Just look at the CAASQ leader board. There are 2 camrys in the top spot for their state.

There was a camry or an apollo done in a mag once i've seen it. It was in QLD with plates ONLY1 it was turboed and had a modified GTR front bar on it. I remember it was blue too.

yeah there was a blue camry in hot 4's last year or the year before.
i hated it at hte time but i think they look pretty good when i see them round town with a nice kit n mags on them. the newer models look awesome too, too bad they only come with a 4 or 6 cylinder.
you do what you want with your camry mate because currently i have a ford maverick (nissan patrol) that will soon be upgraded to a better car believe me.
least it ain't an excel or daewoo thingo...no offence to excel or daewoo drivers.

Think of it this way, there not keeping an eye out for you car, as they dont see it asbeing a modifyed car and your not gonna get picked on like other cars here.
You would be surprised what they pick on and what they don't. Sometimes it just doesn't make sence but what can you do.

I got canaried in an 87 poverty pack SL commodore station wagon that was stitting stock hight with just a set of 17"s on it no tint nothing. yet right next to me there was all types of modified vehicles like DUMPED commondoors foulcans Shkyliners uleh. yet I got done? for condensation in my head light & indicator and my horn being intermittent (and it took them nearly 40 minutes to do that)... ...sometimes sleepers arent safe from the eyes of the jacks, hell they were so hell bent on getting me the guy even started measuring the piece of flex pipe from the crossover pipe to the plenum to make sure it haddent been modified like WTF.

The worst sound car I ever heard was an old, clapped out 323.
The very mainstream stereo could've easily been worth more than the car, and make up half the total weight considering the rust and missing parts (light lenses, door trims etc).

only got a warning this time, but when (not if) he ends up giving me a ticket for it, i'm gonna do my best to make sure he writes 200dB on the ticket..... just to see how long it'll last in court!
