hey guys, just finished putting in the audison srx3 amp, 2" elcheapo 12" subs for now and boston pro 60's 6" splits.

Anyway i've put the tweeters in each corner of the top front dash. When listening to it, the sound is quite nice but when i turn it up the tweeters seem really harsh and ear piercing.

Is there anything i can do to counter this and get a nice smooth sound that wont kill my hearing ?

I've left the tweeter settings as default on the crossovers (i think -2db is default ? other options are 0 db and -4db). Also i have not adjusted my headunit in any way, neither have i set any of the filters or any of that stuff on the amp ... i've basically just set the gains to half way on the amp for now just so i could hear what they sounded like.

Also some other questions with my install

1) the bass from my subs seem to vibrate the rear view mirror at the front of the car when i have some decent bass going, this kind of screws up the sound a little bit at my end. Is there anything i can do about this ?

2) things like the rear licence plate rattle alot and the boot rattles quite a bit when i have bass going. This doesnt affect the audio inside of the car, but might be a bit annoying to people outside of the car if they have to listen to the big rattling of the rear licence plate and boot when i stop at a light or something.

Any ideas ? Thanks
Hadamona
Try using the -4dB setting, or mount the tweeters down towards the woofers.

As suggested above, it might be a good idea to see if you can mount the tweeters near the woofers. I had this same issue in my old car with the tweeters on the dash, now that they are down near the woofers, its much nicer. You could go to the -4dB setting, but you might lose some clarity, making the sound 'muddy'.

Try setting up your amps as suggested in the tutorials section - see what it sounds like, then make adjustments from there if there is anything too 'bright' or 'bassy' or 'harsh'.

How is it screwing up your sound? is it the mirror making noise, or does the bass change at higher levels?

biggrin.gif I wouldnt be too worried about what random people think outside the car - but you can use some sound deadening inside the boot to lessen the noise - you'll probably find it makes your bass better inside the car as well. Not to mention, if you enter comps, you may lose points if they can hear the boot rattle.

Good luck - keep us posted biggrin.gif

points taken. just with the rear vision mirror, when i have bass going it shakes, vibrates and rattles, and you can hear it vibrating/rattling, is there anyway to secure it better ?
