5kw's of BASS please
Hey all.

In brief my current set up is.

1x 12" JBL 1000w SUB in a Ported JBL box ( ON AMP )
2x Pioneer 260wmax 3-way 6x9's in parcel tray ( ON AMP
2x 4" speakers under dash ( OFF HEAD UNIT )
1x Sony Head Unit ( HU )
1x 4 Channel JayCar 4x100 WRMS amp ( AMP )
1x Diahatsu Charade 1992 TS ( HATCH )

- Ok i just replaced my old kevlar jaycar 6x9's for these new pioneer ones that i bought on friday from strathfield and i installed them yeserday. ( no not a bodgy install ) anyhow the install is not the issue just that im not sure if these are faulty or not..

Basicaly i cant go past 20 volume on my head unit with out hearing the 6x9's bass go out of whack. What i mean is when the vol gets up obviously bass increases anyhow you can hear the material of the 6x9's punching upwards but no bass lol just the punch noise ( The sub is alot of bass so the 6x9's are most likeley giving me bass allthought i cant understand it from the overpowering woofer )

So yeah i can hear the material the bass in the 6x9's is made of punching the speakers sounds like they are stressingand cant take the pressure :S But my 90w didnt do this @ 20 volume they just made a massive pop noise!

Anyone crank up there system before and have my 6x9's pioneer TS-A6961e 260w MAX 3 ways and get the same or similar prob? Is it these 6x9's are not capable of the bass :S. I got the for that reason the other ones choked under pressure now these high quality 260w ones sad.gif i am not to sure. Please help also the 6x9's are off my AMP and i have adjusted and minimized the bass from the HU but i need bass how can u live with -4 Bass off the head when -5 is as low and +5 as high! It wasset on +5 and same problem with +2 sad.gif Please help are they faulty for some reason or are they F**KING SH*T speakers... sad.gif I Bought them since pioneer is a pop brand and it is the first and most likeley the last time i would go with pioneer!

PLEASE HELP!

pioneer just seem to have higher bass output in there speakers, ive run my 3way pioneer 6x9s through a reletively high pass to eliminate that extra bass output.

it might also be the pioneer speaker sensitivity is that much higher than your old ones, in replacing the speaker without re-tuning the whole system, your just gettin more sound out of less volume.

also the xplod headunit wont help much tongue.gif try movin up the quality of the headunit that drives the system to get more potential out of it. i was runnin a pioneer deh-p8650mp which had the 11band eq and 6x rca preout so my highpass and low pass settings were spot on.

It is not the Xplodes HU. It is now made anymore...Its a SONY HU RED and BLUE LED's not the Xplode one i have seen it its not xplode..

So, you are getting a lack of bass?

6x9 bass get cancel out from the JBL subs?? Could happen. Try unplugging your sub and hear the differences and do the same with the 6x9, see if it sound better without 6x9.

hes prolly trying to run low frequencies that the 6x9 just cant handle. HP it. ur subs are for bass, ur 6x9s will produce midbass. two different things
5kw's of BASS please
I no I dont want Bass from 6x9's thats what im saying...I want mid and voice from the 3 ways i wanna rip off the sub cone in the 6x9's it just wont stop the bass nuthing can! ARGGG... lol i turned down the sens and turned it up and all it does is determine the volume of it and the x-over Freq turner does nuthin what so ever...how can i tell the 6x9's not to play bass? IF i put it down from the HU then sub gets low aswell and the subs controll has no controll over this its like the HU is controlling the sub and over powering what the sub control is set on :S Anyone no what i can do??

Sub is on LPF

6x9 is on HPF

Should of get 2 ways not 3ways, coz u have sub already.
5kw's of BASS please
My amp only Has these settings
( It is a jaycar 4 chann 4x100 amp)

X-over Freq -
Sensitivity -

Then a slider which can be flicked to FULL, LPF, HPF

Thats it for the speakers channels and the Subs channel is the exact same.

Now how can i tune this amp with gain etc or cant i :S i read the amp tutorial but i have no HPF setting its only flick it across and it "so called" is activated but i cant hear much of a differance :S.

Can someone explain the X-over Freq to me aswell as i want to set my amp for my new 6x9's!

Thanks

u need to swithc on the HPF then twiddle the nob with freqency written on it and turn it up to about 1/3 1/2 which will be about 80-100hz ur sub filter shud be LPF and the the nob should be in about the sme spot. if its say a bit lowe then 1/3 then this is ok just make the 6X9 channels at teh smae freqency position as the sub is. or ur gains are up to high.

^^ wat he said. try HP125hz. Higher the number the less low frequencies in the 6x9's. Makue sure u turn up sub lpf to match it or u will have a frequency gap

i would say lower around 80-100hz as 6X9's can easily handle lower freqs. but try both and see which soudns better to you. with it tuned a bit higher the 6X9's gain can be tunred up a fraction lower turned down a fraction. read the gains tute to learn how ot do it properly adn tell us how it goes.
