Full Version: How would this sound.

Hey guys, I enjoy having a kind of 'surround sound' feeling. I think splits > speakers so is it possible to install rear splits? So in other words 2 split component systems, one front:one rear.

It might sound stupid but i think it will give it a nice effect, and I dont think it does happen often so guys, is this possible? Would any problems arise etc...

To show you what i mean heres some pictures, dont laugh at the bad paint job biggrin.gif

In the above picture im showing the entire set up, so headunit, 2 amps in the trunk, sub in box in the trunk, and then splits at the front and splits at the back with the back tweeters shown where they would go.

Heres a closer up image of what i mean, the tweeters will face the driver or the middle of the car. So if i had 2 split systems of 6.5" speakers with tweeters and put 1 at the front one at the back, is it possible? a stupid idea?

I'd be much more concerned as to the position of your front tweeters, they seem far from optimal.
blanketman
no its not a stupid idea
and it is possible
the only thing holding you back in car audio (apart from money)
is imagination

IMHO your sound stage wont be entirly infront of you
as the splits in the back will draw the sound backwards
but if this is what you want in your car
its what you want

yeah ive got splits front and back... you can always just fade to the front if it sounds like its coming from the back smile.gif

lol like i said mate, the drawing is way off. On the pic it looks as if the front splits are behind the driver but thats only cause on the pic i didnt have the rest of the car in the image to show you exactly.

I like what im hearing, and as for now I might do this...

4 Channel Kenwood Amp to be bridged.
Both front and rear splits will be run off this bridged 4 channel amp.

2 Channel Coustic Amp to be bridged and run the subwoofer.

As for the splits they will most likely be Boston FS60 or the Morel Pulse 6.

Any more opinions?

Where did you mount your rear tweeters, and more importantly how?
CVBASS
my rear tweeters are in angled pods, next to the woofer, facing forward and slightly across, held on with a small bolt through the parcel shelf. You can always cut a hole in the parcel shelf and flush mount them facing up into the rear window
CVBASS
also how do you plan on running 2 sets of splits off a bridged amp?... this leaves you only 2 channels, you are much better off just running the splits of a channel each, so you can keep fading abilitys and L & R stereo sound

Is that true that my car will sound to trebley cause of this? I have only 1 sub in a box, 12" 400watt nominal

CVBASS can you help me with this?

Also after reading some things of FHRX, are you sure my amp or sub wont die because I will be using a 400watt sub on a 240watt amp?
