Apparently that's been done with postpaks before too. For racer wannabes it gives the look of a cage without the weight (and without any benefits other than providing amusement for others).

no back seats has gotta save you something
is a racing cage legal on a road car in aust?
if so how much does it cost to set one up, and does it add a lot of extra weight? (/me would like to stiffen chassis )

A cage will depend alot on price depending on several factors
-whether you get a rear half or full cage
-whether you get side intrusion bars and whether they are removeable
-whether you get a weld in or bolt in cage
-whether you get a custom one or an off the shelf cage
-whether you want a CAMS/FIA compliant cage or one for road use
-whether you choose steel or aluminium or titanium.
I was quoted about $800 for a steel bolt in full cage for my mini but that was about 3 years ago.
One of the biggest rollcage places is Bond Roll Bars and their number is (02)97437005 or you can arrange a cage through most performance tuning places.

The good thing about Bond rollcages as suggested above is that they are not only approved by the FIA but also CAMS, the Confederation of Motorsport which is the body that regulates motorsport in Australia, but I'm sure that you were aware of that! This means that if you decide that you want to participate in any events you will have no problems in obtaining a log book, provided that all your other components in the car are up to standard!
