Hey guys,

Havent been on the forums for ages! Things have really changed.

Just a quick question for those with the fancy box building software and know how.

I am in the process of building a simple setup and am stuck at what to do for box dimensions.

I have a pioneer 12" sub and am looking at building a ported box to suit, it will be powered with only about 200- 250 wrms. (told ya it was a simple setup).

The sound i am looking for is what can best be described as loud sq if that makes any sense.

Here are the sub specs:

Specifications
12" Subwoofer for Enclosure applications
800 Watts Max. Power Handling
400 Watts Nominal Rating
Qts = 0.340
Xmax = 9.2mm
Fs = 32.7 Hz
Vas = 51.45 litres
Frequency Response 18 ~ 2,000 Hz.
Efficiency 89 dB
Impedance 4 Ohm
f0 (Lowest Resonant Frequency) 35 Hz.
Recommended Sealed Enclosure 42.5 Litres

Thanks in advance

Michael

loud sq isnt an option sorry 305c's suck the big one for sq smile.gif

but the best you could go would be about 2.2cuft tuned to 33hz
BigMic
thanks.

yeh i know the sub sucks, just had it lyin around
and want a bit of bottom end in me system.

thanks for the specs.

do u know what port dimensions to get it tuned to 33hz?

prefer a slot style port.

Thanks

oh come on, the 305's a damn good budget entry sub

yeah as fair as they go though tongue.gif personally i reckon they sound pretty good in a sealed box, never heard in a big ported one.

Yeh i have had it in a Sealed box previously but am interested to see how it will perform in a ported box.

If you were using a 2.2ft3 enclosure and aiming for 33hz tuning, I personally would go a single 4" diamater port 11.5" long, which will give you 33hz tuning. Regardless of what people say, you should get quite reasonable sound quality from the 305C in that box, for the price.

Thanks charger,

I Will set out plannin and buildin the box in the next few days.

Thats good to hear. But i don't have as fussy hearing as some of the audiophiles lerking on the forums. I'm just after what an average person would call, good sq.

Thanks again.
