just wondering what you guys would think would be better for sq

i am about to buy my next system and need to know what would be better out of these 2 setups for my ba xr6t

first option
stock head unit running line out converters and an eq

second option
running new head unit (eclipse 8455)

will there be much difference???

i will be running my focal utopia splits and eclipse amps and focal or re xxx subs
APS
I gotta say on those two options the Headunit will make an enormous difference.

The intergrated unit is just plain old crapE.

Definitely take the option with the new head unit, particularly if it has high volt RCA's and all the bells and whistles. The new head unit should also be more versatile and give you more options should you wish to add multiple components to your system.

You seem to be running some pretty good gear - why let the weakest link (the factory head unit) pull the system down?

Correct me if I am wrong, but doesn't the BA series have an integrated head unit?

yeh it does have an integrated head unit which is just a massive pain in the bum, so i can either keep it or leave it with speaker outputs un connected and run the new head unit, i thought the eclipse would be a better option and considering eq arent cheap its not a lot of difference but i dont know for sure which is why i asked on here. i would have prefered to not have two cd players in there but if it is gonna make a big difference then thats the way i will go

If you are not able to remove and replace the integrated head unit in the Falcon, then I suspect that you may need to mount the replacement HU in the glovebox (or elsewhere). Obviously, this raises its own practicality issues (ie. you may need to use the remote to control the new head unit) but in terms of a SQ set up, the aftermarket HU will give a noticeable improvement and versatility over the factory head unit.

The upside is that your set up will look more inconspicuous with the factory HU still in place and the new HU in the glovebox.

I know that some other cars with integrated HU's (eg. Honda Accord Euro, Mazda6) have had aftermarket support with a new dash fascia which allows for an aftermarket HU to be fitted. You might want to check the relevant Ford forums to see whether anything similar is available for your Falcon.

there is no way to replace the stock unit because it is the icc ( interior command centre) and runs everything from stero to air con to speed alerts and the brain for the trip is in there too so it will have to stay. before i purchase the head unit too is there any around the same price you guys could suggest to have a look at?

Im in the same dilemma as you mate.

I was going to get a quality linedriver with inbuilt EQ and inbuilt LOC. It's smaller so will fit next to the ciggy lighter and is generally a less pain in the a$$.

do u have a brand for this line driver so i can have a look at it

I have an Audiocontrol LC6 line converter/line driver for my BA sedan. Check out the Audiocontrol website for details. Will do the job nicely for what I need.

actually you can do both with certain LOC's

this allows your stock headunit to output sound to the amps/speakers, but let you run a aftermarket headunit. Its a certain type of of LOC, not sure what, or who makes them.

JL cleansweep will do the trick
