Im on Bigpond ADSL. Its not too bad. Id prefer cable but there is none in my area so i have to stick with ADSL. Telstra isnt as bad as everyone says. Connections is fairly good for a home connection in terms of downtime etc. It used to be pretty bad with downtimes but now its a fair amount better then what it was.

ADSL rocks. Before (on dialup) always had to wait for everyone else to get off the phone. Now, use the phone and the net. Also the speed is amazing (especially if you have a 2.4GHz+ P4).

IMO there are MUCH better deals out there for the price.
Only good part is you get $100 off installation at the moment with bigpond

Bigpond is a huge rip off, HUGE RIP OFF. The reliability is no better than any other provider that use the Telstra wholesale network and the download allowances are pathetic.
In WA use Arachnet or Westnet (i think those are the right ISP's, WA people can correct me if i'm wrong)

I highly recommend Netspace if you live in Vic. massive downloads plus free unlimited downloads over vixmule from anyone in vic.

Netspace gets my vote too. They offer better plans than bigpond. More downloads...

I would've recommended Netspace also, except that in WA the ISP's i named rule the ADSL world. Anywhere else i'd recommend Netspace for their reliability and download allowances...and also because they only improve the value of their plans unlike ISP's such as Telstra/Optus/iiNET etc
Westnet and arachnet r the 2 to choose from. I went westnet and haven't had a hitch since feb when I started with them.
WA Bigpond ADSL is good I had it for 16 odd months with the number of outages able to be counted on one hand. But the 3 gig just wasn't enough. Westnet 6 gig peak and unlimted off.

Bigpond ADSL...now that's an oxymoron
Wayyyy too many complaints.

I know that they used to have alot of reliability issues, but being closely associated with a smallish ISP in W.A I speak to alot of business customers who swear by bigpond ADSL. APparently reliability issues have sorted themselves out
just wanting to know your opinions though
I have gone for bigpond purely because of the $100.00 off, so effectivley its only costing me $39.00 for my modem, with no connection/application fee. 40 bux for adsl seems pretty good to me. and 3 gigs *should* be enough
Keep the opinions on bigpond comming It's been great

I think you'll find that Pigbond oops Bigpond is the isp most un-1337 users have, so therefore theres more complaints where it is usually the users fault compared to other companys who make you source your own modem, set up yourself etc... as they usually only have 1337 h4xx0r5 for users which can solve problems themselves.
