I've been a member for a while, been logged on nearly everyday, putting info when i can. But one thing i've always missed out on is the meets, and i really want to go to one, i'm a little scared to tell you the truth, not that i'm a wuss or anything, it just that i won't know anyone there, and i have no mates who are into cars and car audio that i can bring along. I would love the chance to meet people with the same interests that i do, i'm not a shy person, but i always like to know at least one person if i'm ever going anywere, party, pub etc.
So are people friendly at these meets, as they make them out to be in these forums, or is it like, they already have there friends at meets, and they are not interested in meeting anyone else new?

Well as i understand it WA is of similar size to the ACT (as far as meets go), and at our meets we are very welcoming of any new members that we get. It is very much as friendly as the forums. Just rock up, introduce yourself and you'll be fine
The first meet is always a bit nervy but after you arrive you'll feel quite comfortable

I've attended VIC and NSW events, as well as met many of the members from other states.
I think I can honestly say that CAA does attract friendly people (oh and the odd long haired hippies that think everyone is attracted to them).
The best thing to do is actually bite the bullet and introduce yourself to people at the meets. First start would be look for the members who have a red CAA shirt, knowing that they are a moderator and will introduce you to the people standing around.
Definately worth doing, and the amount of friendships that have been formed through CAA is simply amazing.
Good luck and don't be shy

Yeah, meet's rock! First one I went to I was hell nervous!!!
As Dr.dB mentioned, try and find the "leader" in your case, it'd be NUMB, or anyone with a red CAA shirt (not sure if anyone in WA has one?) Introduce yourself, and then all will be good.
Most of the meets we have in QLD are at comps, and people get to know each other pretty quick because we help each other out in times of crisis!
Or just start talking to everyone as if you know them! hehehe, last meet a new guy turned up, I had no idea who he was even after it was finished! But we all chatted to him, helped him out and stuff. It's all good.

Hehe, or in our case we have no leader yet.
And i must say the weirdest thing is introducing yourself. The choice between nick and real name is hard. And to learn everyones real names after talking with people using their nicks is strange too.

Come on down dude. Seriously, last month was our first really 'social' meet and it was great!! I am trying to get meets together where everybody is a group and not bunch's of people. The next meet comming up will be sensational if we can get the numbers.
From now on I am going to be always wearing a bright yellow shirt at meets, this way I will be easily identified. I am then more than happy to introduce everybody to you. You'll be surprised, only a few of them bite
This year CAA in W.A is going to experience huge growth, now is the time to get in on the ground floor and help make CAA as strong as it should be in W.A. We really dont discriminate against anybody, i mean look at me, i've only been around for just under a year and im State Rep, Shiny_Car is head moderator and hasnt been around for very long either. Its great like that, its not how long you've been around, or who you know, we respect everybody and value everybody comming
Bring a few mates if u want, they're more than welcome
P.M me if u have any further questions or anything to add
Regards
James

Well ill tell you's a little seceret, im a very shy guy, and well was like that or ma 1st CAA meet, but the trick is just to rock up and introduce ya self to EVERYONE tell them ya nick name on here and ya real name.
its heaps a fun
hmm i think i need a red shirt or sumthing now
When I meet up with the people from CAA now, they can't shut me up!!!
I was quiet and shy to begin with, but they're the biggest bunch of friendly people, and everyone is willing to help you out.

Oh yeah Maccas super shy
First time I met him "Stick you hand in the port and grab the screwdriver will ya ? No go on, you've got small hands." .
Meets are neat.. but we don't get to a lot of them thanks to geographic issues. So most of the "meets" are comps where we sit around and chew the fat with everyone between runs.

Dont be sared of having the oldest/ghettoest/crappiest car either. Knowing my luck I'll be brining the pug out or something to make you all look good (unless you have a falcon, no hope there...)

Well thanks for all your input guys!! Yeah from what i've heard they sound like a blast, so i should get my ass in gear and go to one.
Still doing my install, it's a pretty big job, just finished replacing all the ground wire, and new adding a battery in the engine bay, this weekend. GOD DAMN some of those nuts are hard to get off on the engine block !!!!
I'll be sure to show youy guys the master piece when it's all finished at one of these meets.
