It has been brought to my attention that recently several of the products distributed by my company have appeared for sale on Ebay. To clarify our position, Ebay is not an authorised reseller of our products and any product purchased through ebay will not be covered by our warranty, whether or not it was originally sourced within Australia. (our speakers do not have serial numbers and as such we do not know their provenance)
Please be aware also, that the dealer currently selling these products on Ebay does not have them in stock and anyone who purchases them will be waiting a long time for delivery.
If anyone has any specific questions relating to this please email or PM me.
Thanks

It's good to see a supplier look after his dealers & their customers.

Well done Steve. If only there was more like you out there.

It would be nice to know what brand of products you are talking about, so that other people who browse these forums don't purchase those items.
I have no idea what products you sell, so i wouldn't mind knowing, word of mouth will spread, but not if you people have no idea what to say.

I am not entirely against Ebay, I think it has its place to clear unwanted old model stock or shop soiled, repaired items etc.
I am against using it to undercut Bricks and Mortar dealers who have their livelihoods on the line and are employing staff and running legitimate businesses where people can go and see and hear products they are interested in buying.
We will be strenghtening our anti-Ebay stance over the coming months.

Good to see. Now if we can stop stop these backyard sellers who have no shopfront, bricks and mortar, our stores might be able to support more products

I have spoken to the Ebay seller mentioned in this thread and he will not be placing any more of our products on Ebay.

I am not at liberty to divulge the name of the business involved but suffice it to say that it was not one of our established dealers.

Just out of curiosity, is the guy actually doing anything illegal in selling these products over ebay?
To my (limited) knowledge, grey importing is not illegal.
Sure he may be taking income from you, hence why you feel spite towards him, but in stopping him from selling, you are doing the same to him.
All's fair in love and war.

yep but in the scheme of protecting a market its fair.
I had a similar chat to another supplier about the same thing.

I would suggest they were buying them from the Australian Supplier (ie Hutch) - and reselling them on eBay. Not illegal as such - but probably breaking the "dealer agreement" that would have been established when applying to be a dealer.

So just out of curiosity whats the problem with purchasing from an Australian Dealer and then selling on e-bay? The Aust distributor still gets his/her price for them? it's just they are not sold in a shop front...?
Not saying i support it, because i dont i'm just playing devils advocate....
NOTE: It is different if there is a specific dealer agreement in place that outlaws that method of selling. Then there is no question about it being wrong....

If you go back and read ALL the posts , you would have realised that the stock was infact Australian Stock, not U.S. as you suggest.

Would it be easier to just stop supplying this particular account holder, claiming breach of sales guidelines?
EDIT: I just noticed $59.95 required shipping on items, what a joke

I haven't checked on this thread for a while. A few points have been raised.
Firstly, our dealer agreement prohibits any form of direct online sales, ie ebay.
Secondly, it was our 'stock' being advertised for sale on ebay, and as this is in direct contravention of our dealer agreement I requested the reseller remove it from ebay, which they did.
Thirdly, if someone wishes to parallel import products and sell them on ebay, fine, I have no control over that. (I still don't like it)
Lastly, the reason ebay is a problem is for exactly the reasons that have been outlined on this forum may times, warranty, second hand B stock, etc.
As with all online sales, buyer beware.
