.hey,

i've tried using the search function to find information on holden astra head unit installs, with no luck. so my query is, does anyone have any information about the holden astra head unit wiring loom? it is an '02 model, and as i am installing the head unit for a mate, i just want to be sure about what wires are for what.

i have noticed, that in the loom there are 2 thick wires, with the rest of the wires being similarly thin. my concerns are to do with the lcd panel at the top - i am not sure if the 2 thicker wires are for this lcd, as there should normally be 3 wires that stand out - constant, ignition and earth - shouldnt there?

anyway any help would be much appreciated biggrin.gif. thanks

what head unit?

theres a VERY easy way to do these once you answer that question.

if you do not know what you are doing on this car DO NOT ATTEMPT IT.

currently in the car is the standard blaupunkt model (sorry not sure on specifics). replacing with a new sony mp3 cd player. (again, not sure on specifics)
Audio Express
that'll do. you need from an audio store that sells aeropro:
AP349 - antenna adapter.
APP8SON - sony -> iso plug

that will sort out the whole thing for you.

... doh! double post.

re top screenwith temp control
in the plug with the power wire s there is a grey wire and a red/white wire in one hole the grey wire is your power ant wire but dont hook up the red and white if you do the temp display will turn off every time you turn the h/u on

I did a bit of a search on this topic but didnt find very much..

Does anyone know if there are headunits available that will still retain the Astra steering wheel controls and the display in the dash?

Thanks

Nope, you need to buy kits to make it work with aftermarket HUs
Audio Express
yep. blaupunkt.

specifically the heidleberg CD52 and the MP74 series. both require a patch lead to do it .

what unit did you buy. I *may* be able to get the wheel going depending on what you say.

the pacs steering wheel interface will run in that astra as long as your sony has remote
