Hi All,
I am in the process of looking for a new car.
Basically I am paying the loan for my current car off next week and then I will be right to trade it in on something else.
I reckon my trade in will be around $7500 and I am willing to get a loan up to that amount meaning I am looking for something around the $15000 mark.
I used to have a commodore and am not really keen to go back to one of them (petrol costs)
I am looking for ideas for a second hand small - medium car between $10,000 and $15,000, prefer a manual.
Heres a few I found, opions?
1998 Nissan Pulsar LX Sedan $10,990
Series: N15 S2
Odometer:113,000km
1998 Holden Vectra CD Sedan $11,999
Series: JR
Odometer:71,000km
2001 Toyota Corolla Ascent Sedan $12,990
Series: ZZE122R
Odometer:102,000km
Any other brands / models I should be looking for?
I don't have to buy one straight away so I can wait until the right one comes along

i personally love the pulsars...they hold their value pretty well for a small/medium car and they are well built with good features.
other than that, you could try a brand new hyundai getz 5dr manual, 1.6L $15,490
from the three u suggested though, i would pick the pulsar
though possibly look at more recent models, as u can get as recent as 2004 pulsar's under $15,000

go for a 1998/99 Pulsar SSS.
SR20DE is good for about 100kw and high 15s quarter miles
one with around 100,000km's on it should be in your price range
check out:

What are your criteria for a car? Theres plenty of staggeringly quick imports you can get for that price. Economical too, the good turbo setups.
Also consider things such as the coupe's. A good FTO can be had for near that price, and they blitz the streets...but only the FWD version is imported, from memory. (they came in a 4wd turbo version!)

Yeh not really keen on an import, or a turbo, I just want something that goes ok, is not too expensive to run, looks ok (not ugly) and won't cost the earth

If I had $15,000 to spend on a car..
I'd buy a 1991 WA Festiva 5 door for $1000.
Get a Mazda Familia GTR half cut from Adelaide Jap for $5,500.
Install the Familia engine with a TX3 Laser Turbo gearbox for $800.
Fit Swift GTi suspension parts, and a GTi twin plate clutch for $2000.
Roll cage for $800.
Rear mount a fuel cell, delete the factory fuel tank, strip the rear out $500.
Mini light 12" x 5" mags $900.
$11,500 spent.
Engineer it, say $500.
$12,000 spent.
Voila. 12 second car that uses under 9l/100km.
Oh, and get GTR-235 plates (GTR have 235HP)
