Finally saved up the pennies to get the Evo bar painted and fitted to the Festiva.. call up the spray painters "No worries mate. I'm a bit busy, but drop the bar down this week so I can prep it. I'll call you back on Wednesday next week and get you to drop the car in for paint matching and installing the bar".
Still no call a week later . Tried calling 3 times during the last 2 weeks and "Oh I'm busy, havent touched it".
Lazy, lying mongrel . Not happy about this at all.. he's earnt an official thumbs down from me and I shall fetch back my front bar and take it to the dudes next door to work instead.

Yeah that's standard with panel beaters and painters. I guess you just gotta be lucky and choose an honest one.

I dont think its a problem with honesty, painters just cant seem to get their head around how long something takes to do, and then you get really urgent jobs come in and **** everything up.

Man thats **** , i'm going to get my car resprayed in a couple of months ( Doing research now ) and if it takes THAT long, i'm going to be one pissed off customer, if it does happen, i'm going to demand a log on what happened to the car that week, and have a look at the progress. If they don't like the attitude, i'll take my business somewhere else!!

99.9% of spray painters are dishonest.
They steal paint/clear-use as little product as possible, do rough jobs, leave orange peel, make paint drips etc...
F*CK THOSE FOOLS, paint it with a brush, do a better job

I have a good mate with a smash repair business (family run)
sometimes its just not possible to do a good job quickly. they will rather wait and do the job nicely than a half arsed job quickly.
the idea is if you do mad jobs, you will get more business (they dont major insurance jobs, mostly restorations now)
it takes time to get cars fixed up properly. sometimes cars stay there for yonks before they even start work on it, simply because they cant say, do a bit on this car, and then go onto another one, theres just no space to leave all the parts lying around.
so make sure you know what you're complaining about before you *****

I've been screwed around and theres 1 place I found and they are so nice...the owner sticks to his word and if he can save u money, he'll do it (He refuses to spray my car). But he fixed up the rust on dads car and he said 1 week. He did it in 6 days. So yeh - it's just about finding who's been in the business the longest, who turns cars over fast...yet seem like they got HEAPS of time to chat to their customers.

Well he's meant to have a good reputation in town, and was HIGHLY recommended by a friend in the trade (but works in Orange so he couldnt do it for us). He's been in business for ages, and have produced a few show quality cars, his own cars appeared in Hot Gemini's and I think Hot 4's at one point !
Sept he's being REALLY LAZY ! No call from him yet, and its over 2 weeks now . Its not like he's doing this as a favour or nothing, we're paying thru the nose for his service

Go in and tell to hurry up and start on ur car
Or go find someone else.
Sounds like he cares more about getting more business than running it.

i had to get some small parts sprayed recently (which leaves my stezza inoperable while they're out) and sure the guy said "a week" and i am to blame for telling him there was no rush on it..
but then when i discovered what its like 2 drive for 2 and a half weeks without a stereo.. im desperate to get it finished.. 2 nites the nite tho
but as i saw it and as it may be for you and as i work in my own business etc i kinda understand.. if there isnt much profit to be made on the small job u gotta accept that u're gonna get bumped back for insurance work and work with a bigger profit etc.. 2 weeks isnt "unacceptable" sure its not quick and u got a right to be anoyed if he promised one thing and did another.. but better that than it being rushed by some schmoe with no other work and it turning out ****
still "the customer is always right" if u arent happy go grab it take it somewhere else.. and u may get exactly the same problem.. u might not..

What a lot of SH*T! My old man has been a panel beater/spray painter for 30 years, and I've never seen a LOW QUALITY job come out of his shop. The blend is always spot on (no fancy computer equipment that hikes up your quote, just use own two eyes).
A lot of tradesmen put a lot of effort into each customers car, to make sure there is no peeling, bubbling, cats eyes, etc. They put in the quality workmanship because of this "word-of-mouth" advertising.
It's only those clowns with the TV ads, the "waiting rooms", coffee machines, and cute little receptionist that run a "production-line" sorta shop.
It's usually the customer who doesn't realise how much effort goes into a paint job. Time to grow up, and be patient.

He hasn't even mixed the paint.. I know 'cos he wasnt interested in the paint codes "I'll mix it"
As for the whole Hot 4's thing, I was just pointing out he's known for doing quality work. Wish he was known for FAST work. Might go pick the bar up this afternoon.. should have just DIY'd it like I wanted to
