Righto lads. Since DeeCee aint coming down for a wee while yet i thought i'd make a start on baffles, layout, deadening etc.

A wee question for the pro (and almost-pro) installers out there (one of which i will freely admit i am not)...

Given that :
1) I have no intention of leaving the car in factory condition
2) I have a Drive 30 that lets me set delay, gain, phase, EQ etc on a per driver basis
3) I'm in an MR2 and extremely limited for space

... is there any reasons you can think of not to rip out the air vents shown here and build a baffle to mount the 3" mids in their place? Considering that with the Drive 30 the usual problems of differential volume and timing are easy to overcome, i cant think of any, but i'm sure theres some... :?

I'd expect strong driver side bias. (PLD and not on axis) If you are willing to tune it out then it's a possibility but generally I'd think u'd want to aim for a good path length distance from the start then work your way from there.
I'd consider kickpanels.
If you don't want kicks a better position may be on top of the dash with a good angle into the windscreen; Midrange wont be affected by comb filtering as much as higher frequencies, path length would be better as the primary focus would be the reflection from the glass (achieving great stage height and depth as the speakers virtual position will be on the bonnet.

Other reasons: U'l lose your airvents, you may rip ur car up unnecessarily (or just because you can). From the passenger view line of sight with the right speaker will be covered by the steering column?

In my old XF ford the speakers were there and it wasnt the best.
