Hey guys just wondering if anyone knows whether I have a chance of getting 67mm deep splits into the doors of my EL XR8.

I don't want to have to make door pods as I want it to look factory but I don't mind having to make up spacers as long as they don't hit the door skins when I turn them up.

Any idea if they will fit?

Should fit, I had Alpine SPX- 173A's in my EF XR6 and they fit behind the grill in the stock door trim, can't for the life of me find somewhere to tell me the depth of them though, but if you can find the info...... they fit

Pull the door skin off, use a steel ruler so the tip of the ruler is where the measuring point starts from and check the depth with the window down..

Chances are you'll need some spacer rings but aside from that you should be sweet.

Were these speakers the 6.5 inch ones? The SPX-177R speakers are the 6.5 inch splits and they are 70.8mm deep so if they are similar I might be good.

I might just have to stop being lazy and measure it up.

Pioneer TS1625's are 6.5" and they fit in EF doors fine, I've got the same in my EA using a 6 or 8mm mdf ring I rather dodgily cut with a jigsaw (as the stock holes are square, for 4" speakers - I have EB 6" door trims to suit) if they are a little too deep anything up to about 5-6mm spacer wise could give you a little more room.

No they were only the 5" ones (SPX-173A) but from memory they were fairly deep, you may need some spacers to go to 6.5" though as I think the factory's are only 5"s.

I had Eclipse 8062 6.5" splits which were 72mm deep in my EL Fairmont Ghia with no problems at all. Tweeter mounted in the factory dash location and they sounded superb. But my bloody BA Falcon only goes 58mm deep!!!. Had to replace the Eclpise's with Diamonds in the front.

Pulled the doorskins off the other day. My current Alpine splits seem to be about 70mm deep so I should be fine.

yep im going to try to get some 6.75's in my ed doors with spacer rings, should be no worries and also tweeters in the factory location.
