I made this a few weeks back, and have finally got some photos of it.
The equipment in it isn't top notch (Pioneer TS-W305C, Response 2x80), but at least the set up ain't too shabby.
O, and underneath the false floor are 4 PC fans to keep the amp cool.
Feel free to make comments.

Overheating isn't a problem - 4 PC cooling fans are hooked up to the battery, and keep the amp from heating up too much.
I installed a relay that's connected to the remote turn on wire, so that when the headunit is turned on, the fans and amp come on.

be a good sq setup too. The woofer face so close to the rear means that your wont be getting much cancellation happening. Good work.

does this mean other systems get a fair bit of cancellation?
My box is to be put against the back of my rear seats in the boot of the vt but it will fire towards the rear of the car, i was advised to do this... would i be better off shooting the sub straight into the back seats? now im confused

no facing the subs to the rear is the best VTPete, but if u were to put your subs smack agains the back wall of the boot facing rearwards like has been done in this case u get very little cancellation. In commodores this isnt easy as you generally wanna use that room. hope that helps Cheers

I'd say that's too close to the tailgate, plus the shape of the sub box means that it takes up most of the boot.
Having the sub just behind the back seat in a hatch won't cause "cancellation" as suggestion.
