I have just bought a new car (1995 Ford Laser Lynx) and i want to put an amp under each front seat. The boot is a last resort as i want to keep all the space for holidays, and drive-ins wink.gif

The problem is that there is an air-con vent on the floor (under the front seats) facing the rear of the car. This is a feature in quite a few cars, so i was just wondering if anyone had found a way around this? Or could give me some suggestions, thanks guys!

Shorten it so its no longer in your way I guess would be your best bet.

how much room is there under there?

could build an MDF tray? although could make the amp too close to the seat, which could = fire sad.gif

I've done that before, cut it short then blocked it off. always a big call when making irreversable mods like that though.
blanketman
the vent should be able to disconnect
just disconnect it before looking to cut it out

Why not modify it so it pumps air over the amps biggrin.gif

Thanks for the replys guys, had a look today and its pretty thin plastic that its made of so im gunna try and wedge the amp underneath it (so the air would flow ontop)

Stooge - the seats are pretty low because theyr sporty ones so a tray is outta the question.

Blanket - do you mean disconnect from just under the seat? or would it be a whole peice from the centre console?
blanketman
they usually connect in several peices
just find the closest one and just detatch it

ok mate thanks for that.. at least now i know what im up against and how to fix it biggrin.gif

Mine hasnt been cut just sealed off with gaffa tape.
I tested on full power and that air doesnt come out.

I you have hot air blowing over the amp it will still make the amp hot

yeah that sounds like a good idea.. saves hacking! biggrin.gif
