From time to time i still get told by 'very knowledgable people' that there is no use having $2000 worth of amps if you havent got $500 worth of cables to go with it. So i'm gonna see if you lot can tell the difference wink.gif

Of the cables listed below :
- One costs $35 RRP
- One costs $65 RRP
- One costs $120 RRP
- One costs $500 RRP

All are quoted as using 'Oxygen Free Copper' of various degrees of purity. Two have strain releif. All of them state various fancy dielectrics.

I'll give $20 to the first person who gets them in the right order, from least to most expensive. You're only allowed one guess each wink.gif List your guess as "A,B,C,D" or whatever, in that style smile.gif

Cable A

Cable B

Cable C

Cable D

EDIT : Double posted cable D's pic, removed smile.gif

DING DING! We have a winner!

Cable A - $35

Cable C - $65

Cable D - $120

Cable B - $500

Interesting that the cable that most people voted the most cheaply constructed (B, both here and on NZICE) is also the most expensive wink.gif Is there a lesson in that? wink.gif

And FYI, from what i can tell, the best constructed cable for car audio use is D. Gotta love the massive strain releif biggrin.gif

Can I add that I was about to post Gooki's one, then noticed he had done it mad.gif

And was going to try A C B D..... except that the forum got that stupid MySQL error.

I feel happy that I picked it after some careful thought biggrin.gif
Dogo
very interesting, but not surprising.

i wonder which one has the least resistance and which is least susceptible to noise ?
Fudd

No, and agreed. The best built one is C smile.gif

Any of those monster cable?
No. But from experience, most monster cable looks similar.
~Sparkles~
C definately looks the goods compared to the others. But even A looks good sompared to the other two.
I wouldnt have a clue I personally believe that the wire its self makes SFA differnce and as pointed out by these images its the termination and quility of workmanship and engineering involved in the actual terminal that makes most of the difference.

Then again I run 10mtr DSE RCAs cut in half and re terminated tongue.gif

what the hell is 'A'. looks like XLR/balance line. unsure.gif

Quadrophonic
what brand is cable C?
without seeing underneath the pretty white sleeve, its hard to tell what its really like. although it does appear to look the best... wanna slice the sleeve open?

whats with Cable A? It really doesnt look like a male rca plug to me... more like an S-video plug. there are about 5 wires, a dimpled shell and i cant see its donger...

gotta say that $500 cable looks shocking!
Do you mind telling us the brands of em?

do you know what cable A is?

No he doesn't, he has no idea what cables they are, he just found them in a rubbish bin and made up a price value to prove his own agenda that expensive cables are crap biggrin.gif

hey blackrazor
do you know what cable A is?
Yes, its a S-VHS cable, picked simply because its an example of great construction at a cheap price, the opposite of the reason i picked cable B wink.gif

And no, no names on the bad ones, cable companies are notoriously grumpy about people mentioning them in a less than pleasant manner wink.gif Cable C, however, is made by a company called MaxCable, its one of their specialist car audio interconnects smile.gif I use a similar product from the same manufacturer but at a slightly higher finish level (simply for cosmetics) smile.gif
vpcommodore
cable a is a 5pin DIN socket by the looks of it
