is there any infared readers i can get for my pc so i can connect to my nokia?

or what cable do i need otherwise?

I think pretty much all the IrDA ports you can get will work...There's that kit that Jaycar/**** Smith sell that need an IrDA port on the motherboard or you can get USB ones for like $50

A little bit and hijacking of the thread (Sorry!), but does anyone know where to get software compatible with an 8250 to be able to infra red ringtones and logos from a laptop to the phone??? Thanks

I think you can get it from the nokia website or try forums.nokia.com

$79 for a irDA port from jaycar im better of just paying $5.95 for them!!!

anyone know how to make one?

or is there a cable i can get for it?

the kit is 30 bucks from jaycar, that plugs into your mobo.

I'm buying the jaycar kit hopefully tommorow, so by tommorow night I should have some answers for you.
Other than that, theres some computer shop in brisbane(gaming something). 15 bucks for a usb IR port. I'll get more details on that tommorow aswell.

i know with my 7250 i got a usb data cable off Optus for $150 (ouch!!!) and its the only one thats compatible with the official Nokia software.

I had previosuly bought a serial port adapter off Ebay to find out that it wont work with the 'better' software.

i have the jaycar $30 kit on my pc. it plugs into yout irda header on the mother board

there very small compnents so a lil trickey to solder but mine workes well.

wourks with the nokia software on my 8210 + other ringtone and tones software 100%

That's almost at the bottom of the page.
Macca with that kit, it has 4 wires comming off the board yes? My mobo has 6 pins for the IR, anyone know if that will still work?
