Just a quick question, as im wondering how the loudest spl cars are earthed?
Are any earthed directly to battery, and chassis?

our wagon is earth direct to the batteries. i have heard of street/street max car's being earthed back to the battery as well. i assume earthing both to the battery and the car chassis would be best.

as long as you upgrade your battery to chassis earth too

it musnt be necessary though, as rippeds wagon is earthed direct to battery, no chassis earth at all and a very high db

ripped wagon is different to a street car he has multiple battery's and the battery's are very close to the amps compared to a street car where the battery is in the engine bay and the gear is in the boot.
it's all about resistance and i dunno about you but i think a whole cars chassi would provide less resistance then the cables you run through it.

yeah for all extreme setups direct to your batteries, theres no point having all that expensice 000 gauge cable and bolting the earth to the crappy and resistive steel frame of the car, this goes for not just extreme spl but for sq cars as well.

yeh thats like what i thought. steel i think is around 7 times more resistive than copper. so u can sort of imagine 7 lengths of 000 guage wire in steel and that would be comparable to 1 length of the copper sort...

In my StB Car, All my earths run back to battery. No chassis earthing at all. Now days most cars are glued together, with tiny spot welds so the chassis has a high resistance. Having said that I'm yet to try a comparison. Something I might do before Wagga if I have time.
