Hey guys, it's that time of the year again to renew my registration. As it happens the rego expires about two weeks before I go overseas. I'll be gone for roughly 4 months and was just wondering if it's worth to renew the rego before I leave or do it when I come back.
I know that when I come back I need to get a blue slip rather than a pink slip, anyone know how much this will cost me?
The other thing is, since my car will not be regoed, i "theoretically" won't be able to drive it anywhere.
Any ideas?

just re rego it if can afford it

and where abouts are you from

if your car is in good nick, then you could let the rego lapse, and just get a blue slip on your return.

however, a blue slip inspection is ALOT more thorough than a pink slip, so if there's anything at all that may not pass a rigorous inspection, just rego it now and save yourself the hassle

and no, you can not (and should not) drive a car whilst unregistered. imagine hitting a ferrari or a house while unregistered

I think it would be better if u re rgo it now before u go on a vacation..Well based on my own experienced with my car that i bought it of my cousin..Its perfectly healthy car no modification at all and its LEGAL definitely.

I went to get my blue slip then the guy in the garage told me that I need to change my front tyres coz they said not enough treat on the front tyres (which in fact the tyres were still good and the treat still thick there) to pass the inspection!! we had an argument on this,but u know..They said "Fine if u dont want to change ur tyres,then u wont get ur blue slip!"

At the end I did change my tyres and got the blue slip,coz I really need that car registered at that moment so cbf for looking another garage.
