they contain things like spekers, amps, sub's
CD players are popular too..
in what way do you mean by best? SQ setups dont always have to look good..
they can be basic as hell as in mine and way over the top like angelo kanci
why do you say yours is the best?

Can't tell you if it's any good without listening to it. But you definetly have good gear so has plenty of potential if installed well.
The best SQ systems recreate a precise audio stage and precise tonal balance. Nothing more, nothing less.

generally all an sq set-up needs is a headunit with decent tuning ability and a nice clean output signal, some good 2-way front splits WELL INSTALLED, an amp for the splits that puts out clean power, a single good quality sub in a suitably well built box, with an amp feeding adequate power to the sub.
all of this should be well installed, with plenty of tuning hours put in to get it all sounding accurate.
you should rock up to a caasq comp one day and have a listen, even enter yours or ur gf's car and see how u go.

4 sets of splits????
or is that a set of splits up front a set in the rear.
more speakers definitely doesnt mean better sound...actually in a majority of the cases it sounds better with less.
if you want to know about the best sounding systems in the world they generally are 3 way(tweeter mid, midbass) setups (some times fully active) no rear fill (no rear speakers)

dude, im no expert, an i respect the install u have in mind, but instead of gettin two sets of splits, two subs, ect. u should have a bought a very very accurate set of splits, wether 2 or 3 way, an got one lower power higher accuracy sub, and with the money u saved spend it on sound dedening an a better h/u, i got one type x, an it drowns my splits wen turnd up, two type x's will go obviously louder an ur sq will go out the window. sq is best reached at MODERATE listening levels, ur subs will have to be turned way down for this, nnow u have to be honest with ur self, is it worth gettin two 1000 watt subs wen u wont even listen to them at there potential, cos if it is true sq ur after then u may have gone about ur system the wrong way..... but hey fk it, the kick ull get out of two type x's will be crazy... and if installed properly ur speakers will shine too. good luck mate

Well i know a perfect place to listen to many high quality setups =). Since you are going to the coast to get your system installed, cruise up to brissy on the 26th of November. We are having the last qld CAAsq comp for the year.
Come down and ask any one here for a demo of their systems. There are going to be lots of variety there.
Best way to test what suits your ears, with in car variables and not shop variables

You don't need a $3000 CD player in a car.
Great front speakers don't need to cost moe than $1000.
A truly awesome sub can be bought for under $500.
$800 is plenty to spend on a serious amp.
Put that together, in the right spots and you have godly SQ.

A high end SQ system consists of the components which...
give you the level of performance that you are happy with...there are no magic brands, cables, speakers etc....your idea of SQ is probably very different to mine all that matters is it sounds great to you

i would agree, with what others have said, u will find that most SQ competitors have a single set of 2 or 3 way components normally 6-.5" tho soem run a 8" 3 way setup for ultimate midbass. and a single sub.
if ur happy with ur 2 sets then great if ur happy with 2 subs then great, but it might sound "better" with only 1 of each tho ur set up will "look" better and will be "louder"
IMO to get the 2 subs and 2 sets of splits sounding as good as a single of each will cost more(coz of the components) as well as install is harder to get depth, staging etc right i.e. more money again.

You need an EQ with gear like that.
Anyone who thinks you can build a decent SQ rig without at least 15 bands per channel is either ignorant or lying.

that hu got 5 band parametric EQ. btw EQ not that crucial, many SQ champ car here in perth not using SQ, most of them just running pasive

Exactly. Except you can measure absolute fidelity. See harman.com 'white papers' on audio. Everyone tends to enjoy the same sound when presented with high fidelity speakers-It might take some training though.
What you cant measure is subjective enjoyment. Well I guess you could with an MRI machine.
People tend to assume that expensive gear is better. It can be ,but any system can be misused, set up wrong, and not acheiving its maximum potential.

its not about $$$s.
medion is a regular winner in SQ in sydney and has what many would consider a humble system.
You dont need an eq, it may help but it may not. I have 31 bands of EQ and have them all set flat...go figure. Im not sure if that make's me a liar or an ignorant liar, or just ignorant *shrugs*.
I think your system design leaves a little to be desired and no offense sounds like more money than sense has been throiwn at it. Get great front speakers, a tight sub set up and quality component everywhere you can. less is more.

well, I think a well set-up basic system will sound better than a bells-and-whistles system which is poorly tuned.
and that is evidence-based observation.
